Can it be? iPods with Wi-Fi wireless connectivity? According to DigiTimes, Apple will be launching new iPods with Wi-Fi in the second half of 2007. They claim that Samsung and Sony will also be following suit, creating similar Wi-Fi compatible products.
Supposedly Apple is hoping that the new Wi-Fi iPod will make it easier and faster for consumers to get content from the online iTunes store. Rather than having to wait to be at your computer, you can instantly download a song directly onto your iPod. Translation- more downloads for Apple equals more mega bucks in the bank.
Although Microsoft's Zune already includes Wi-Fi for song sharing but hasn't been overly popular, we will certainly see an increase in Wi-Fi enabled mp3 players with tons of features in the near future.

I go through, on average, one iPod a year. I'm on my third one now. I'll be due for a new one towards the end of this year. So I do hope these will be out. Because I'm not ready to commit to an iPhone just yet.
1Cool!
2I don't think I'd have need for a wifi pod... Pretty much 90% of my music comes from CDs I've purchased and not the iTunes Store.
That pink Mini was the first iPod I ever owned. I have a black video iPod now, but I wish it was that mauve-y pink. I need to find a cool case to put over it.
3Like TheMissus, I too am on my 3rd iPod. Not because I feel the need to upgrade, but because mine either get lost or stolen! Started off with a pink mini, which I lost. Then a white nano, which was stolen. And now I'm on to a black video purchased off eBay. So basically this one will be lost or stolen within a year so I'll be ready for the wifi. Looks cool to me!

Looks like an awesome idea.
I'm thinking of getting an iPod Video for my birthday. Should I?
9wow! it would be incredible! really cool!
10I'm not really interested in an iPod.
11I'm happy with my zune. I can put the vidoes and recordings I have made on there with no problem, and most of my music comes from CD's and the occasional download from the zune marketplace.
This is a good Idea though. It would be fun to beable to surf the net from your iPod.
Though, I think iPod is taking credit for an idea that could be considered to be Microsofts idea first.
