The entire tech world's mantra is obviously "Go Big or Go Home" (which is mine too!). Megapixels have been rising in cameras since digital cameras came on the scene, and now they're jumping up in another place: our cell phones. An LG source recently hinted that camera phones could reach 10 megapixels in the near future.

That sounds awesome, since I love to take shots when I'm out and about, and the higher the quality the better. But there's another opportunity here — with a high megapixel camera on your phone, you could drop an entire gadget and just use your cell phone.
Of course, photography aficionados like myself would never lose dedicated cameras altogether, since SLRs are a different ballgame and I can't imagine all the features and adjustments could be on a camera phone right away — but the more casual user could definitely benefit.

I use both camera and phonew/camera.
1I use both right now just because my camera makes better pics. But if camera phones could get the same quality as a point-and-shoot camera then I would totally ditch my camera. I already carry way too much stuff with me. It would be great to be able to carry at least one less gadget with me.
2Ditto to vivaciousv's comment. My camera takes way better pics than any of the camera phones out there. Until that changes, it's camera AND phone for me.
3I only take pictures with my phone because it's easier to carry around just one item instead of two. I would def LOVE if the camera's would get better on camera phones!!
4Noo way. Its only thing to have awesome looking cell phone photos then a really dedicated optical lense that you can really get your money's worth.
5Since the first one I got I don't like to have a phone that doesn't have a camera. But for me to give up cameras all together it would have to be some truly insane phone.
6I had the LG Dare for a couple of weeks and it was the best camera phone I've had. Now that I have the iPhone, the camera isn't so great, but it does the job. I wouldn't give up my beautiful red Kodak digital camera for anything. It's got 8 megapixels and no cell phone can do that just yet.
7I want to give up my camera, because I never carry it with me anyway. So I'm hoping for a good cell phone camera someday.
8I like my camera phone (with 3.2 mp, it's great for snapshots) but no camera phone can make me give up my SLR-camera. No way!
9I would consider carrying just a camera phone but every attempt I've seen at a great camera/phone has failed.
10If I could get a phone that takes pictures as wonderfully as my camera does, I would prefer to just have the phone. I'm always too concerned about dropping or leaving my camera somewhere because even though it's small, it doesn't quite fit in my pocket as nicely as a phone does. Also, if I'm going somewhere where I don't want to carry a purse (most places) but I'd like to be able to take good pictures, I don't want to have to stuff a camera in my pockets as well as my phone, keys and wallet.
Now, if they could create a phone with buttons that pop my house key and car key out of the bottom of the phone, that would be great.
11I would love it if the iPhone had a better quality camera. With it's data connection I was able to take photos and post them to a website in real time when I was in the hospital having my last child. This way the family could monitor the process from home and not sit in a hospital waiting room all night. Having a better camera in my phone would just be so much more convenient. Obviously it wouldn't replace my husband's SLR but either does my little Canon that is small and convenient.
I'm all for this trend!
12No - I like my camera. I can't imagine a cell camera every measuring up to a regular camera -- at least not a higher end one.
13sony ericsson's phones are great! lg's really good too
14I am with mac girl on this one,I've been taking pics and posting them to my myspace lately. but for special occasions or vacation i would go with a separate camera.
15ugh i mean taking pics with my Iphone.
16gadgets in my bag at all times: iphone, ds lite, digital camera, ipod and jump drive. obviously i have tons of crossover. but i kind of like it. isn't that what oversized, ubber cute bags are for?
17I gave up my camera when I bought my N95. It has a 5mp camera and shoots video. Plus I'm not a real big picture taker, so having it separate meant I would never use it.
18i don't think that i could ever give up having a separate camera. it's just not the same thing to me, and i'm not 100% sold on the fact that i like camera phones - cause i feel like they are intrusive. i love tiny cameras...and i love that they have more memory
19Not unless the phone somehow turned into a SLR but seeing as that will never happen, I definitely would not!
