I have a love-hate relationship with the color pink, especially on my gadgets. I like sporting the color on occasion, but I don't like how tech manufacturers think that women only like their gadgets glossed in the feminine hue. Thankfully, I can totally get behind the pink ribbon movement that supports breast cancer research, and subsequently use it as an excuse to buy another DS. What? It's to fight cancer!

For a limited time, Nintendo is rolling out a Pink Ribbon DS Lite that supports cancer research and awareness. For each Pink Ribbon DS that's purchased, Nintendo will donate $5.00 to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure research fund, with a whopping $100,000 minimum promised. If there's any reason to go out and splurge on a new DS for yourself or the women in your life, I'm thinking this is your shot! You can get your own on Amazon and in stores on October 19.

Nintendo is donating $100,000 to breast cancer research? i wouldn't exactly call that whopping! they're a pretty big company. that's pennies, in my opinion. but still, a nice gesture, and if i had a DS, i would like that one.
1...and theyre donating 5.00 per special edition DS sold, considering theyre charging 150 for them at the walmart i go to 5.00 doesnt seem like that much. Come on Nintendo, step up your game!
2ewww...how not fashionable. The pink DS...definably so!
3I'm all for beast cancer research, but I am always very careful to not donate to cancer charities unless I've verified that my money won't be used for animal testing. Animal testing is cruel and counter-productive in human illness studies.
4that's cool but they should've designed it better!
5Oh, if I didn't already have one . . .
6I'd definitely get this, but I've already got plans for my next 2 paychecks or so, but if they still have them when I have money I'll definitely consider it. It's cute.
7Are you sure its supposed to be out on October 19? Because I saw one of these in Best Buy today. The actual Pink Ribbon DS itself not just a picture...
8i like that there's a portion of proceeds going to the foundation - that almost makes it worthwhile for them to try to target women to blatantly with the color of the gadget.
9again, i'll wear a ribbon not buy a gadget. besides, my ds is a lovely dark blue! and when i give to cancer, i do it on a personal level, like with the local hospital. i like to see my donation at work.
10I already have a ds
11I feel like 5 dollars isn't enough. DS though are still popular so who knows maybe people are still buying them...
This design is awful, how uninspired. This ds is only in america, right? You can tell because of its cruddy design.
12I already have a pink DS, i don't need another one, i'd rather just donate the $5.00 myself and save myself 145 bucks.
