According to the Apple Insider a recent study has shown that high school students are willing to fork out the cash for an expensive iPhone. "Nearly 85 percent said they were already familiar with the multi-function Apple gadget, and of those students, 25 percent said they'd be willing to buy one at the previously announced $500 entry point," reports the site.
If I were to do that math on that one, I'd say that these kids will be spending their entire summer mowing lawns and baby-sitting to cover the cost of the iPhone. Hey, at least they'll be cool for school in the Fall right? No new clothes but a flashy, high tech phone to play with during recess! The question is, will parents be willing to fork over the cash for their own iPhones?

3haha yeah, im deffinatly NOT going to spend $500 on a Phone. Im happy with my razr.haha.I go to a catholic school [with very many rich&spoiled teenagers] and i bet very many students will have one next fall. lol
4om i see the hs kids point of view... i would spend that much if i was still in hs, but now that i'm in college i know i would totally regret it just like i regret getting my ipod...yes i said it...

hmmm.... i had 500 dollars in my bank account once... then i bought a phone and an ipod... now i have about 50 dollars...
6yeah... I have my Razr and I have my iPod, and I'm not very enthusiastic about combining the two... maybe when it comes free with new service or renewal.
7I agree that it's their parents' money in most cases. And if it is, they clearly have no concept of frugality.
If it's their money... well when I was working as a cashier, I made about 100 a week. Combine that with a tax return and it's possible.

I don't think I'll even consider asking my parents for it. Firstly I don't even know if it's that good - Apple isn't exactly known for its phones right? I'd rather pick up a phone from a reputable brand.
If the iPhone turns out to be great, then good for the teens who choose to buy them and be the target of many a theft.
9iPhones will be the hot item to steal over iPods in the high schools.
I suppose the kids that either have decent jobs or get $ from their parents will have them. I worked and bought all my own stuff when I was a teen and $500 was a LOT of money to me back then. I suppose it's not really much different than when I would go spending hundreds on Guess and Girbaud jeans back then but at least I had something to wear! lol
10when i was in HS, i didn't have $500. nor did i have (or need) a fancy phone. my parents bought me a cell phone for emergency use and i did not abuse that privilege! kids today, geesh!
11There is no way I would by my child an iPhone. He is constantly losing or misplacing his stuff. When he is ready for his first phone it will be cheap and if he loses it then he won't get another phone until he buys himself one. BTW, what's the average age for a first phone?
12I wouldn't care if my kids had 3 summer jobs a piece! I got 4!! You know they better have a job to even mention a $500 anything! Even then, I know of a Million different things to do with that money! Like, Pay Com Ed for one!! LOL!!! Help yo momma out with some stuff first!! Pay Your Way! And we wonder why these kids are so shallow and materialistic!
