Lucky him that the spammer was an actual person. Most of my spam comes from bots so I don't get to have fun like that.

I was thinking of 419 stuff too. This American Life did a great show recently, "The Enforcers" that follows a group of guys as they set a 419er on a wild goose chase for three months. It was harsh to listen to because I hate it when people think they have the right to police others, but in there I was hoping the intentions were good at least.

Gene Weingarten of the Washington Post did this a while ago, and it was much funnier and more involved. I can't find the article right now but if/when I do I will pass it along. It's good stuff.

Ive done the same with someone who offered me a free yorkie puppy, as long as I paid for shipping. I knew it was a scam, because I looked it all up on the internet and I found out it was a very common scam.

My comebacks warent as good, but all I wanted was to get the person to answer questions, because his english was terrible, and his stories didnt make any sens.

i think that it's great that someone's finally fighting back. with those types of email - i'm just afraid to open then for fear that either i'll get a virus or i'll get even more emails - and i just don't want that. but i think that if someone's able to bring humor into it - then that's better than anything!

i tried to rent my apt on craigslist and got some offers from people i thought were legit but it was all 419 nigerian scammer junk- some of them were pretty believable saying they were doctors at this and that hospital. however, i got weary and contacts that hospital- they told me that it was a scam and that for some reason their hospital was used in a lot of their scams. busted.
