Don't even read this if you only like to watch a movie or TV show once and then move on! Netflix is launching a competition for the world champion in movie-watching endurance.
Their couch potato contest will take place in NYC's Times Square from October 2-7 and will pit eight people against each other - in front of a giant movie screen - to break the world record of 120 hours and 23 minutes (the current world record).
The eight contestants get to sit in a plexi-glass living room while being served gourmet popcorn (sounds like my kind of night! er, week), and can stretch and move as long as they keep watching. What I really want to know is, what are they watching? A John Hughes marathon I could deal with, but not the Look Who's Talking franchise.

Princesse Tam-Tam
John Lewis
Stuart Weitzman
How do you sign up for this???!!!
1this is nuts! i could go maybe two days. but not a full week!
2Eww, a diet of soda and popcorn for a week? Maybe if they throw in some real food, I would be there!
3Five days and 23 minutes? They have a record for this? I love vegging out in front of the tube, but that'd be too much even for me. Do they get to sleep? I'd guess not. They do get bathroom breaks, at least, right?
4oh i should so be participating in this!!! i can watch movies nonstop. and i could watch kill that time just by watching clueless over and over. gotta love that movie! and bring it on. and brown sugar. and love and basketball. and talledega nights. and coming to america. and, well, you get the point!!!
510 minute breaks between every movie.
6I'd probably do this. Lmao.
7wow i'd never last more than 3 hours.
8i would do it, hahah! i think it really depends on the movies being shown, but i've been known to take interest in any movie bad or good. i think it would be a really interesting experience!
9I'd do it if I could pick my movies. I could easily watch my entire DVD library, plus some new releases I don't own.
10Do they get time to sleep?
11Oh my gosh! I love watching movies, but I take it so seriously that I need to keep my focus to follow every nuance of them. If I can't refuel, like sleep or eat, then my mind wanders. It's like studying for cram sessions!
12That just sounds like being trapped on a never ending flight with nothing to do but watch movies. Not fun.
