One of the announcements at the Let's Rock presentation last week was the iPhone 2.1 update. Steve Jobs boasted that this update will improve your reception, cut down on dropped calls, and exterminate system bugs.
After spending about 30 minutes updating my firmware, I can tell you that it's a vast improvement! I have all five bars almost everywhere I go in the city, and have noticed faster Internet surfing, faster downloads, and best of all — faster backups to iTunes. Have you updated your iPhone yet?

It slowed down my email server but other then that its not that bad.
1I like that now when the phone is in standby mode and a text comes in it just says "New Text Message" rather than the person's name. Now if it would just do that in regular mode, I've already had one argument b/c of a text I received while someone was playing with my phone.
2I wish there'd be more stuff about Blackberries on here. I know iPhones are super spiff, but us Berry users love apps and things too.
3I haven't really been able to use it much yet...mostly because after I updated my phone all my music was removed for 6.2 gigs of "other" so I had to reset my phone and then restore it. oh it only took a FEW HOURS but at least it's back to normal.
4MissLiz: don't worry, when the Bold comes out you will see Berry love, RIM just hasn't done anything awesome lately. And making a curve pink doesn't count.
5i updated and so far no dropped calls. it was dropping my calls like crazy and i hate that i was still billed for them!!!!!!!!! but all seems to be working fine now. at least, from what i can tell.
6There's a new 8.0 out now!!!
7I downloaded it the day it came out.
8My husband was up at 6am last Friday checking to see if it was available yet
I am
still dropping calls in an area that I had previously not had problems with my old iPhone :-/ Overall though it seems to be better. Text messaging is MUCH faster.
9Yea I did, havent really noticed any difference
but my iPhone is acting up, freezes and cancels. bugs bugs
10A serious bug (other volumes affect the ringer volume) was resolved. Opening Contacts is faster. However, I still get dropped and failed calls when I'm on the 3G network at my house. Those are all I've noticed so far.
11I did upgrade on Friday. I have noticed that my battery does last longer, less time with the back ups and installing of Apps. Never had problems with dropped calls. The keyboard is faster and so is Safari.
I wish they would do something to fix the echo with using the phone with bluetooth enabled car.
12I have not yet updated because my laptop is being fixed this week. :[ It needs a new hard drive. Well needless to say I want to update my iphone but I cant. Though I never had any issues getting 3g. I have never dropped a call and I use my iphone all day. My complaint with it is the battery, I have to charge it at least once if not twice a-day. Although the day after the update was put out, I for some reason had no service all day. I was stuck using my old blackberry. And ever since then I have been getting very spotty service with my 3g and it has gotten slower. Idk if this is just me but it makes me want to update so bad. :[
13I will wait to do the install until I've heard a decent amount of feedback from their other customers (i.e. QA Team).
14I'm sooo glad the back up time to itunes was fixed, it took me forever to back up before
15Psh, no need to, don't own one
I'm waiting on the Zune equivalent!
16All I know is that my battery lasts longer now. Thank goodness!
