Online passwords are the 21st century padlocks; get them leaked and you're vulnerable to all kinds of nasty invasion. You have to be really careful who you share them with — if ever! At most workplaces, it's a huge no-no to share your password with anyone, but if you have email, a bank card, WiFi, or belong to any social networks, chances are you have a ton of personal passwords (and I hope they're not lame).

What's your thoughts on passwords? Do you share them with anyone, or do you keep them all under lock and key?

I would tell my best friends/family members my password and sometimes they would see it when I would mess up and write it somewhere else other than the password box, but after like a day or two I would change it.
Nope. Too finicky to trust it to anyone, even if it is your boyfriend or mother. You never know when they might get "nosy."
No, I don't share my passwords with anyone. I'm way too paranoid to do that. I just don't trust anyone enough for that.
My husband and I know each others passwords merely as a security measure in case of emergency. Both of us really could care less what the other does online, and if I suspected anything I'd find out anyway. (I have a knack for *always* finding out -- whether I want to or not -- sneaky behaviour from loved ones to acquaintances. I don't know why, but something about me makes people forget to keep their mouths shut, and they blab away!) Other than that, I don't tell anyone, even my daughter!
No, no, no. Definitely a bad idea even if you're good with and trust your spouse. It might kick you in the ass later.
No.
True story, two days ago I was called to get the laptop of a visiting company manager logged into our system. When I finished the setup I handed her the laptop to log in. Myself and two others at the table all looked another direction. She burst out laughing asking what in the world we were doing. She then with out prompting merrily told us her password. It was all very funny to her. All I could think was, what an idiot.
My husband uses my laptop sometimes, so he knows the login password and has checked my email for me a couple times, other than that no.
I've only told my mom my password for my email (I had an emergency and i had to have her actually check my mail for me at the time since i had no internet), and amazon lol. she forgets them anyway
I have given my password to two of my pals before just b/c it was easier to have them log on to mine than to try to navigate them otherwise. Afterwords I changed my passwords though but otherwise I haven't/don't share my pw
Hubby is admin of the company so therefore he has some of my passwords. I do share most of them and would give them all to him as I'm not doing anything I wouldn't want him to see. Other than the husband I am VERY protective of my passwords.
I did however have to lecture the 9 year old how it wasn't OK to give his school friends his webkinz username and password. "Why mom?". "Because if they do something you don't like to Hanna the Hippo I can't do anything to fix her".
My husband knows my password and I know his, but we don't typically go into each others accounts.
No - I don't share - not even with my husband.
However, I know all of his because I set up all of his accounts. LOL
People have shared their passwords with me, but I rarely ever remember them. I rarely remember mine! A lot of people tell me and they don't care if I forget or not. I even had someone give me their mom's PIN number so I can sign her up for something (my was okay with it) and I can't even remember what it was even though it was a few days ago. I'm trustworthy and forgetful. Both are very good for me!
My husband knows most of mine and my mom has my banking one but she is on my account anyway so I don't worry about it.
No.. never have, never will.
I've known other people's passwords tho, mostly for the purpose of having to go into their e-mail to print out an essay for school or something when they couldn't get to a computer.
But other than that, what purpose does it serve for other people to know your passwords? I don't get why some people feel the need to share that information in situations other than emergencies. And my best friend told me her hotmail password when were younger, because "best friends tell each other everything" and then got mad at me for not telling her mine. Lol.
I use the same two passwords for everything, my sisters know one of them and my friend & my dad know the other one but I don't think they remember it. I don't really have anything to hide so it doesn't matter to me.
No never. Would you give someone your PIN number?
Yowch! With all due respect, your boyfriend or husband is the LAST person on earth you should share your password with (and you really shouldn't share it with anyone)...statistically, your boyfriend or husband is by far the most likely person on this earth who will one day rip you off or hurt you, be it financially, emotionally, or--gulp--physically...not trying be overly negative or anything, but given the law of averages...bad choice.
No, I usually don't share passwords with anyone. I inadvertently gave a password to my new bf, but it's for old email and some utility bills only and I don't mind mind him having it. At some point if we get super serious and engaged, he can my passwords if he wants them. I have given my debit card pin to my mom and brother when I've been unable to drive and needed them to get me cash.
I did once, but then I got hacked. Never did it again. Although, family is different: I need the key to at least get in to the wireless network and well, my parents aren't that great about making hard passwords for their email or whatnot. I keep most of their passwords straight for them anyway.
I pretty much use the same couple of PW for everything and my husband knows most of them. My daughter also knows a couple. Other than family..nobody will ever know my passwords.
I share some of my passwords to family and close friends. I usually use the same passwords for those accounts that I'm willing to share.
Other than my immediate family, as if they needed any of my passwords anyway, otherwise no way! I did it once and I learned my lesson with that... because "everyone" is human.
i've told my dad and a friend, but other than that i haven't told anyone.
Family. I've got nothing to hide, and they wouldn't mess up anything. Besides, they wouldn't even remember the passwords. XD
Heaven's no!
I've only told my boyfriend passwords. It was so we could pass one of my flash drives back and forth at one point and he's the only person I'd feel comfortable doing that with.
I've never told anyone my e-mail password. My bf knows the one I use for everything else.
boyfriend...
and i remember that day too...
and the day he gave me his, because his password is for everything!
just my hubby...
Oh, please. I've got no cogent reason to share it with anyone.
My husband knows most of my passwords. I trust him and I have nothing to hide. And I know most of his passwords too.
I don't share mine with anyone, and I don't think I would ever share the passwords to my "important stuff" (aka e-mail, online banking etc) with anyone, but less important stuff I could probably share with, say, a boyfriend or husband, when that time comes and if it felt necessary. I would, however, make sure I chose a password for those things that had no affiliation what so ever to the important stuff, and I would make sure it wasn't a huge deal if something were to happen.
Hubby knows my gaming password ... but nothing else. I do not share my pw's with anyone else at all.
My boyfriend (who I live with) knows all of my passwords, and I know all of his. Hell, we even know each other's pin numbers...it's just practical for us. If he's running to the bank after class and I'm still at work, he can take money out for me etc. We trust each other completely, and I know that if we ever (hope not) broke up, all of thse passwords can be changed.
One of my sisters knows a couple of my passwords but they are mainly what i used when we used to chat on yahoo etc. I know my little sisters myspace password because i made it a part of the deal of setting it up for her, she's 14.
Certain people know certain passwords of mine. And, my sisters/friends will give me there to their emails or other accounts when they need me to do something for them.
Just family. But I doubt they remember them.
i agree with punk glam queen. my boyfriend knows my passwords in case of emergency.
My dad knows my AOL password (he set it up for me back in high school), and from that, he is pretty good at guessing some of my other passwords, and I let him in case of emergencies. I've told my fiance some of my passwords (like my Pogo one), but he always forgets.
my husband, but I have so many different ones he gets confused anyway
I think it's so silly when people complain about stuff happening, or getting hacked, when they hand their password out to all their friends. Come on... have a little common sense!
My boyfriend knows mine... at least, I've told him but he doesn't remember them, so I guess I'm safe. I know his though. I think it's pretty interesting though because I have pretty weak passwords and he can't remember them, but he's a computer engineer who has written a special program to randomly generate a gibberish password every so often, and I know all of his!
My fiance and I know each other's passwords, but that's it. I don't run to tell him my password for every individual website, but if it comes up, then I don't care.
no way. i don't even use those apps that save the passwords for you.
The only person that knows my passwords (and not even all of them) is my husband.
I’ve never shared my passwords except once. My longtime girlfriend wanted to comment on a website but she didn’t want to sign up for an account. I allowed her to log into my account and post a comment whenever she rarely wanted to. But then she got rude toward some people that I was use to just ignoring when they had a bad day. In other words, she was looking like she was me while being rude to them. All they saw was my screen name and her foul words to them.
Then after I put a stop to that, this chick went on to other websites/blogs and started quoting my words. A lot of these things she was NOT supposed to be repeating about what I do. Anywho, after seeing the words that I wrote quoted on a website, knowing they were clearly mine, I went off on her and dismiss her from my life.
So needless to say now, that was the first and last time I allowed someone to have my password, allowing them access to be me on the Internet. Thank goodness I never allowed her access to other passwords to the TRULY important things in my life. In a way I got lucky with that.
I once told my boyfriend a password to allow him to use the computer lab to print out some papers, but that's only because I knew he would quickly forget it!
my husband knows most if not all. some of my family knows some of them as well.
