Dilemma! What's a Google-devoted but equally Firefox-loving geek to do? When Google broke the news over the holiday weekend that they were releasing a new browser called Chrome, I was excited, but also a little guilty-feeling since I use and adore Firefox.

Google Chrome promises a faster and simpler interface, which sound great (the download is still only available to PC users, btw), but I'll have to play around a bit before I decide to make the switch. Considering that 65 percent said you were Firefox users in last year's browser poll, I assume many of you are also pretty content with Mozilla's browser. But the question begs to be asked — will you download Chrome's browser (that is, if you haven't already)?

I've been pretty happy with Safari and Firefox, but when they have a version for mac, I'll give it a try.
1I am browsing right now from Google chrome, and it's exquisite! it's really minimal and attractive looking.
2I'll definitely have a look but I'm also a Firefox supporter 100%
3I downloaded it, but I'm not a fan. I didn't find it any faster and it kept freezing when I scrolled too much. I'd miss my extensions anyway. Sticking with firefox.
4FF3 has given me a few problems. And I'm not in love with the new look GUI, so I'm itching to give Chrome a try.
5I'm a big Opera fan, and it'll take a lot to get me to switch (I've tried using both Firefox and Safari in times when Opera was giving me issues with hogging 90% of the CPU, but still went back to Opera, even when it crashed on me at least 5-10 times a day, that's how much I love it). I am, however, also a fan of Google, and I will definitely check out Chrome when there's a Mac release, and give it a shot.. Doubt it will be permanent, but it sounds interesting to try.
I like the idea of starting up a new process for each tab and thus avoiding rendering the entire browser unusable if one tab freezes, but I'm not too sure how well it would work with my habit of keeping way too many tabs open.. We'll see.
6already have it. I like it. have to keep in mind that it's still in a beta stage. there will be kinks that need to be ironed out.
7Once its out of beta and there are plugins and such, it will probably be awesome.
It's pulled a firefox a few times and started to take up 99% f my cpu, but mostly when I was running a flash game. It calms down somewhat quickly, and doesn't freak out when I've got a ton of tabs open. Firefox liked to freak out when I had one.
Though, I'm hoping the search feature becomes more keyboardy, I liked that about ff, that I could search for a link and not have to use the mouse.
Maybe I just don't have the hang of this.
8Also, I miss my ad blocking. The internet is too busy.
9already did and loving it! Although I don't know if I'll jump 100% to them just yet. I want more add-ons like I have for ff. I'm also a little freaked out it's by google. Is anybody else concerned they'll be tracking EVERYTHING I do then?
10If it's not for Mac, I'll never try it since I only have Macs.
11I'll like it more when it it stops telling me that "Woah! Google Chrome has crashed." Literally....
12I'll probably wait for a bit. I take online classes and the Vista Blackboard system is very picky about browers, internet settings and such, and at the moment I don't feel like taking the chance of not being able to access my classes. I do love google though, so I'll be watching to see how it works when it comes out of beta
13I'm a huge fan of Google.. (can we get a desktop mail/'rss client PLEASE!) but, I loves me some firefox. I cannot imagine the internet without Ad-Block-Plus, and I highly doubt Google would allow an app that essentially cuts out it's profits.
I'll d-load it after the buzz has died down (so I know what to look for in the pro/con area) but I probably won't switch unless it's extension-able.
I can't live without:
14- ABP
- 1-Click Weather (weather stats IN my stats bar!!
I tried it out for a while this morning, but I'm not a huge fan. I have my FF3 set up exactly as I like it, with tree tabs and colorful tabs. Not to mention my new Gmail skin.
15I downloaded it yesterday when it launched...for my pc at work. Initial reaction is that it is somewhat faster and I like it. Still using firefox on the mac at home!
16I have a mac.
17i have a mac, and considering how much the mac market has increased lately i find it really odd that google chose not to release a version for it - IMHO, it makes it less likely i'll care when they do. annoyed!
18I downloaded it yesturday already =)
19I am also a Firefox and Google freak but I think I would miss the better Gmail applications..I guess I would need to play around with it or let my boyfriend check it out first because he's diehard firefox.
20oh! and by the way, I had the same dilema about Firefox vs Chrome. I'm keeping both now... I'll choose a winner later on. There are things that I like in each of them that the other is still missing.
21Already downloaded at work. I'm using it now. This browser is FAST. I haven't had any crashes, but I'm pretty much sticking to straight-up browsing.
For my fellow Mac users -- the code used in Chrome is incredibly similar to the code for Safari, so I'd bank on a Mac version of Chrome really soon.
22Yeah, I couldn't even if I wanted to on my mac. For the time being anyway...
23I'll give it a try when they release the Mac version. I'm surprised as well that they didn't put out a Mac version right away. Google seems to be doing that lately (ie their "virtual world" Lively is only PC).
24I'll probably download it tomorrow on my work laptop. Mac at home though. I like the idea... see how it goes!
25my fiance downloaded it, so we'll see. I prefer Firefox right now. I have to use IE at work, ewwwww.
26I'm almost exclusively a Firefox user, but downloaded Chrome to give it a try. I've been using it all morning and my reaction is sort of "meh" I seem to also be the only one having problems with browsing speed. It's certainly better than IE, but I don't know that it'll be replacing my beloved Firefox anytime soon.
27I used it much of the day yesterday. I did have to get a newer Java plug-in for it, and so far there isn't a version of Roboform for it. Memory usage with 5 tabs open was higher than for Firefox 3 with 17 tabs open.
28I use Flock and I LOVE it.
29I got really excited until it said PC only. You can never have too many browsers. If they go Mac I'll give it a whirl.
30I'm on it right now.
31I tend to avoid all things Google, so this is one download I'm definitely passing on.
32Yes, I will download it, just to give it a try HOWEVER - I need it to be for a Mac
33wait until it comes out of beta. it's not that great. stick with what you've got.
34I loaded up vmware fusion to test it on my mac today. I will definitely be switching browsers and I'm a safari girl. ;p
35Our IT guy sent out an email telling us not to dl it. I don't think it's compatable with our stations' websites.
36Update -- I've been using it for a full 24 hours now at work, and I think this is definitely where web browsers will be heading. The tabs above the address bar make so much more sense, I like the menu system, I LOVE how fast it is. I haven't had any issues with CPU usage; in fact, I can't get it to spike above 25% with 6 Chrome tabs and 6 other apps running, one of which is a VM. And has anybody checked out the Inspect Element feature? Awesome, rad, totally cool stuff, especially if you're in QA or design like me. I also like that as I'm typing a URL, it throws up a bunch of suggestions.
I will admit that it doesn't have the canned Windows look & feel, but I kinda like that. Other than that, I haven't seen any of the issues other people are talking about. I'd be interested to hear the hardware specs of problematic systems, as I bet older/poorly tuned machines are probably the culprit.
In short... GO GET THIS BROWSER. Now.
37I tried it for a few minutes but I'm just to content with firefox to change right now. Maybe once it's out of beta I'll give it another go. But for now...I'll skip it.
38omg because i didn't have enough trouble deciding between my firefox AND E window, now they add a third choice for me...oh bad bad bad. lol
39I'm having problems scrolling with it too! I've tested it out a bit, scrolling down is okay, up, not so much. In my mouse or in my touchpad, it just doesn't seem to work. It's not only me, I've found this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080902182940AAf45jv . I do hope they fix it soon. :S
40You need a whole separate option on your poll for people with Macs! This is another reason I don't like Al Gore: he's on the board at Google and Apple, he should be doing more to make the two work together!!
41hmmm, i don't know. it took me awhile to switch to firefox (about 3 or 4 times of trying to use it), so we'll see... i'm so content with ff right now though. plus, i use stumbleupon, and i know there isn't a plugin for chrome. atleast not yet.
42plus my firefox is all customized so ehhh.... =|
I'm using it right now, and I like it. I feel like there is still some stuff I don't understand, but it is nice for the basics
43I'll try it when it comes out for Mac, if it never does, I'll never see it.
44Just recently downloaded it. I love it! But I can't wait for a version other than beta.
45there seems to be a lot of mac users reading this blog
46i dled it on the pc i use for my acct software and really love the minimalism .
i usually use safari but would consider switching to chrome when it comes out on a mac.
I already downloaded at work. But I have a Mac at home.
47I want to try it because this new firefox has been nothing but trouble for me since I got it. My laptop just hates it.
48I use FF, but I have google email and other features. I'll have to find out if Google has a password saver like fire fox.
49I use FF for all its extensions. I love Chrome but it just isn't ready for prime time, unable to render some pages I use regularly. It also has problems playing some video media... so I'll wait till they work the bugs out.
