I'm always going on about how not keeping your laptop in a bag is going to damage it, but there are some people who go in a very odd direction with laptop safekeeping, and well, the results are not exactly appetizing.

Check out what happened when a guy left his laptop in the oven for safekeeping while out of town, and then — yes, someone turned it on and it melted. Generally, I hear that is what happens in these oven contraptions. They get very hot (fire is involved), and then proceed to cook whatever is put inside their bellies.
Geek Tip time! Do not use the oven for gadget storage. Evidence above.

It's a clever idea if you're away from your house/apartment for a while and you don't want potential burglars to find stuff - but not if you know there's the potential for an acquaintance to come in and use your oven. If I go away on vacation and leave my place unattended (no housesitters & no one checking up on it), I wouldn't expect a burglar to turn on the oven : /
1How about the fridge? Though putting valuable stuff in fridges is an old trick, so maybe burglars would check inside fridges.
2Wow. I guess that's why we have a house alarm? So I don't have to put my Mac Book in the oven to keep it "safe"? Eeeeek!
3I cringed when I read that. If anything of the sort happened to my Mac Book, I don't know what I'd do. Does the warranty cover that?
Anyway, when I go away on vacay, I don't bother hiding anything. We have alarm systems and heavy locks for that.
4Why the oven? I can think of a few places that seem far more logical than the oven that people wouldn't think to look.
5That is one smokin' hot laptop...ugghh. sorry.
6Oh my! That poor poor macbook pro...It must has been so sad trapped inside that hot oven which it thought was a safe, warm bed.
7My brother recently had friends over at my mother's, and decided to put some wooden spatulas in the oven to 'get them out of the way' (didn't think of the drawer...?). I went over the next day to cook dinner with my mom, turned on the oven, and started a fire.
Ovens do not equal storage space.
8The only thing that should be stored in ovens are pots and pans not electronics. He could've put it in the bottom of a drawer, or under the mattress.
9How about under a couch? Even if I *knew* no one would turn on the oven I would *never* put my laptop in there!! That picture just scares me....
10in my first tiny apartment i had no storage and i had a bunch of avocados that were no where near close to ripe, i put them in paper bags and the only place i could find for them was the oven, naturally i forgot and when i turned it on i smelt smoke and burnt the bags, luckily i caught it quick and i still had good avos. oven does NOT make good storage.
my husbands grandma recently had to spend 6 months out of her house for a similar incident, apparently she did it much worse and had to have the house pretty much re done, carpet, paint, ceilings scraped. stuff like that. not a fun thing.
11I kept my cereals in the oven because it was the only place I could store it dry - and forgot about it when I wanted to cook some brownies. Preheated the oven to 180c degrees and yah, got cereal+melted plastic cake. yum? laptop sounds more dangerous :|
12Dumb!!
13sorry but i find that hilarious!!! the oven?? for a laptop...
14Warranty does not cover abuse or acts of god
15LOL. That's funny. Sucks, but funny if you're not him
16What complete jackass pre-heats the oven without looking inside first?!
