Word on the street is that the current generation of the Kindle is going to be replaced by a newer, younger, and prettier model.
It sounds like it's going to take a crack at improving upon the things that many (and I personally) dislike about the Kindle: the price, which will go down from $359 to a rumored $249, and the design, which is angular and slightly awkward (but surprisingly lovely in person), is to be refined. It's also rumored to be much thinner, and have a better screen.
These things make it easier to justify having a Kindle — in addition to my many books, which I'll never give up. See, I think the Kindle is a wonderful addition to a bookworm's accessories, and its mere presence doesn't eliminate the need or desire for real books, but I know some people will never be convinced.
What about you — if the rumors are true, would you buy a thinner, cheaper, better-designed Kindle, or are you forever a paper-and-cardboard book person only, backbreaking Harry Potter books and all?

I find that my iPhone is good enough as en eBook reader, even if not perfect. I certainly don't think that the Kindle is a big enough improvement to justify having yet another electronic gadget lying around the house.
1I would consider it if it was cheaper and smaller. I prefer reading from a paper book, but this would be really convenient.
2Still a little expensive for my tastes but then I'm the girl that still hasn't bought an ipod because it's in the 200s.
3I was a Kindle pooh-pooher, until I got my hands on one and then was rather impressed by the ink screen. I will always have a ton of books around me, but since I travel so much, it would be great to not pack 3 or 4 hardback (yes I'm one of those people too!)books with me each time. Really the only thing holding me back from getting one is the price... and for me, $250 is still a little much, considering I'd only use it for travel. I don't need to hold 100 books on it, just 3-10. So if the price goes below $200 I'd probably consider it. At $150 I'd snap it up and also give it as Christmas gifts.
4ps -- I was going to buy one regardless -- I always wait about a year after releases.
5I would buy one but when it comes to certian books like harry potter twilght i may have to buy 2 the version so i can have it on my bookshelf and pass it on to my kids type of thing and the one i can read on the train or bus with out anyone reading over my shoulder.
6real books for me =)
7I already have a kindle. I do love reading real books but when I read my kindle it's more convenient and more comfortable.
8There's something very emotionally comforting about holding a book with heft and texture sans electrically lit backgrounds.
9I'd seriously consider buying this if that offered text books, till then I rarely read so I'm saving for an iphone.
10I heard that next year they were going to release a slightly larger version for college students with lots of textbooks available. If it also had OneNote 2007 and a PDF reader it would be perfect for campus.
11I'm happy with my Sony reader digital book.
12i would prefer it to be cheaper of course. the price seems just a tad bit high for my liking
13The Kindle is amazing- if you've never seen one, it's tough to understand how clear and readable the screen is, especially compared to something like an iPhone.
Can't wait to get the new one.
14i like the iphone app that allows you to read if you choose to. but really i just want a real book. they're big and heavy but i love the feel and smell.
15I have been wanting e-readers to come up to my specs for ages. I love the sleek look of the ereader and the features of the kindle, so if the kindle was unfuglified I definitely would have to start making decisions of which one to buy. Compare the specs and such.
I love books, and I won't retire mine, but with my laptop and camera gear plus all kinds of other gadgets I don't travel lightly, but I read fast, so I'd love to not have to carry the weight of 5 books with me.
16I'm a total bookworm, and have always been intrigued by the Kindle, but its looks and the price have put me off. So we'll see how much those things improve and I may consider it!
17i like the real thing, there's something about turning pages that i love.
18I love strolling the stacks at the library too much.
19Nah I prefer the real book. Besides, I could always use my iPhone if I wanted to.
20Put my textbooks on one and I will buy it with a smile on my face. And my osteopath will be smiling, too!
21If amazon made Kindle software for the iPhone, I would buy that. Then I could read all those Kindle books on my iPhone.
22I love my kindle, I have an iphone but reading on that is really not satisfactory. The Kindle is comfortable to hold, easy to read. I received one as a gift almost a year ago and I find that I like it more and more every day. I can use it to read PDF and word files for class(I'm getting my Masters in Library Science) and there are a ton of free books out there if you know where to look. I love books, obviously, but I think that the Kindle is a great addition (not replacement for books) to the world of reading. Also everyone I know who has seen mine desperately wants one. Seeing is believing with this one/
