Hello, Gossip Girl props! It seems that the scheming characters of the CW's Gossip Girl are a little careless with their cell phones — or does disposable income just allow them to have a cell phone for one episode and then upgrade? It began with Serena Van Der Woodsen, who was spotted in an early episode of the show with an unmistakable iPhone, pictured. However, for the rest of the season (a deal struck with Verizon?), S had a slider phone, and Apple's cell was never seen again.
Now it looks like the same forces are at work — the newly-released season one DVD has an image that, besides having unrecognizable actors, contains Chuck holding a cell phone. The odd thing is, if you're a GG fan and geeksugar tech quiz aficionado, then you know that Chuck used a Moto Q for the entire first season. But on the DVD cover, he has a RAZR2!
What's happening with these cell phones? Do they think we won't notice if they inexplicably change them up? We already discussed the fact that some characters' phones seem miscast, so what do we think of this cell phone mystery? And has anyone rewatched the pilot to see if Chuck has a RAZR2? I won't rest until I know!

LOL! I don't generally check. I happened to get a first generation orange LG EnV and noticed Blair using it in an episode and damn near killed over. I joke around and tell people I use Blair's phone. This goes over well with all my non GG fan friends who think I am obsessed.
1Erm, am I the only one who don't care about which phones they use in GG? I'm a hardcore fan of GG, but I don't care about the phones. I mean, they are rich, it could be explained that they have just gotten a new phone. I change phones all the time.
2It is a promo and so it doesn't matter if he's using the same phone he does on the show. (Which reminds me, I hate that Chuck uses a Moto Q. It seems like the sort of SmartPhone someone like his father would use. I think that, as a partier and womanizer, he'd use something cooler, like the LG Voyager or even the new Dare.)
Also, Serena never used an iPhone on the show. The iPhone on the pic must've been used for a promo shot.
3i don't think they believe we will notice. they probably have no idea that we obsess over it so much! or that we take quizzes each week. haha. chuck is so not a razr2 person!!!! and how i miss the iphone. it should definitely be in the mix.
4I just re-watched one of the 2 or 3 last episodes... the one where Serena reveals how she so-called "killed" that cokehead guy? Right. Chuck mo def has a Moto Q in that one...

Early in season 1, there was a whole episode dedicated to Serena's phone. That's how Dan actually found an opportunity to talk to her. That phone is no where to be seen later in the season. I think maybe Josh Schwartz's involvement may have to do with the deal with Verizon? The O.C. characters all had Verizon phones in Season 6.
I also think B needs to upgrade her phone, maybe to the new EnV 2... in season 2.
Can't wait for the new season to start!
6i suppose another reason they cut the iphone was because i'm assuming they would be expecting the crowd on the show to be sending each other MMS picture messages and the iphone is infamously well known not to support that feature.
7she did throw her phone in a garbage earlier season 1. i got myself an LG phone and was sooooo excited that most of the characters were using LG.made me proud!
