Ah, romance! If my boyfriend asked me to plug my earphones into his audio splitter on the bus so we could listen to the same song or watch the same episode of Lost, I would think he was astoundingly dorky and fabulously romantic.
I've always been aware of audio splitters, but I'm feeling googly-eyed today and am actually considering buying one — specifically this one by iSound, which is only $10 and includes an extra pair of earphones.

I'm kinda thinking about plugging it into my iPhone so we can party-line someone, sort of like the way your grandparents do on your birthday. Or, you know, not.

I've had to share my headphones so many times, and it totally ruins the music when you can only hear it from one ear.
1This is a great idea.
This is a good idea! And super cheap! Perfect for the next time I'm on a flight with someone.
2Volume controls on a splitter is a MUST!!
3I've found that unless it's a powered splitter that amplifies the sound splitters really don't do very good. Spend the extra $40 and make the listening experience worthwhile.
4I agree with LittleRedRyan; it usually degrades the sound a lot. It literally SPLITS the sound...I mean you'll have it in all 4 years but the sound degrades.
5volume control is a definite. my old roommate had bionic ears and she could hear whispers and i have hearing problems so i couldn't hear anything!
6We use this when we go on a flight so we can watch and listen to the same movie on our MacBook Pro
7Does this work with all mp3 players?
8Yeah it just plugs into the headphone jack, eckeltricity, so it'll work on anything.
I had a fancy Belkin one with individual volume controls that had really good sound, considering. I know it's around somewhere....
9great idea
10I agree with SweetnLow. Whenever we travel together, my DH needs the volume up to a point that it's painful for me...probably because he insists on using cheapie earbuds, whereas I have sound-cancelling Philips ones.
Speaking of, does anyone have a recommendation for a good splitter with volume controls?
