If you haven't heard yet, a 5.4 magnitude earthquake hit Los Angeles yesterday. How did I find out? Twitter of course! Not only can Twitter inform you of what your pals are doing and help you resolve customer service issues, but it can now be a source for news and Twitter Blog is reporting that updates about yesterday's quake began coming in a whole nine minutes before it was reported on the AP news outlet, making Twitter the place to hear news first. With millions of members around the globe, and the ability to Tweet from your mobile device, I'm really not surprised! Do you Twitter newsy events, or are you strictly a social Twitterer?

i don't think i quite understand twitter
1i'm not always connected so i don't twitter. once i get a phone that has a decent internet interface i can consider twittering, or some of the other stalker technologies.

3I didn't twitter my news but I did loopt the earthquake for my friends.
4I twitter pretty much the major points of my day: work, blogging, creative projects, and yes, if they happen, news. I see Twitter as sort of a time-delayed chat program. Once you begin interacting with other tweeters the application's usefulness increases exponentially.
5I don't really twitter news, unless it's news that I'm involved in. If I had been in LA during the earthquake and felt it, I probably would have sent a message to twitter before doing anything else. I didn't twitter about the earthquake after hearing about it (on twitter too

6magickalrealism - I totally agree with you. I follow interesting people and then people begin following me and its fun. You get to know people and talk to them more than other people.
7I was at ComicCon this past weekend with a big group of friends and we were all on Twitter, relating our separate experiences throughout the day. It works really well to keep a large number of people in touch. And now I am addicted.

10I twitter constantly! The moment the earthquake struck, I'd already pulled the screen up to simply twitter: earthquake. Then, when it was over, I twittered: Everything fine @ the office.
Twitter is big in my neighborhood, and the majority of my neighbors twitter throughout the day as well. It's a great way to note if a street has a closure due to filming, or when there's police or fire activity. However, it is especially useful to tell your neighbor which restaurant you are at, invite people down, and have your impromptu dinner party.
Selfishly, I'm 36 weeks pregnant, and friends/family are constantly asking me how I'm feeling, still working, and more. Twitter is a great way to respond. Rather than saying " Oh, I'm fine" (when they just want to know if I've got into labor yet" I tell them to check my website for my twitter update.
So - how can you NOT twitter.
