The debate about downloading movies and music from certain file-sharing sites becomes hairier every year. Making files available is not always illegal, but we all know the music industry has sued people who download pirated songs and that the film industry does not take stealing movies lightly.
I have friends who are die-hard iTunes fanatics and have never even looked at other download sites, and I have friends who are all about file sharing instead of file shopping. Have you ever downloaded media from questionable sources?

Usually I buy the CD and upload it to my computer. I have almost 1,800 songs just from that!
1BUT, if there is a really specific song I am DYING to listen to every now and then I do download without paying :S
I have in the past, but then it just would take so long and half the time they didn't even play, so I just get them all from iTunes now. Plus, the RIAA had a HUGE bust at my school last year and fined like 12 kids upwards of $10-12,000 for illegally downloaded content (they claimed like $700 in damages for each song, $1000 for each movie or something). It was pretty ridiculous so I got rid of all my illegally downloaded stuff just so I wouldn't have to deal with it.
2I tend to keep a list of the songs I want to acquire and go on a spree on Itunes about once a month. Usually I have money in my paypal account from Surveys and things, so they're really free anyway!
3It just depends. Ill download a song if i cant find it anywhere but at a file sharing site. Sometimes its hard to find the songs that i love that the pay sites offer. And due to the frequent use of my mp3 player, i dont really utilize cd's at all anymore. So sad to say i do sometime use the other sites...but its not for lack of trying to first get the song the right way.
4I'll be honest, I don't pay more often than I pay. But for TV shows (I admit... I downloaded the entire season of Gossip Girl), I just use iTunes. THe quality is usually so much better.
5it really just depends. if i really like a single i'll buy it from iTunes. but if i want to hear the rest of the c.d first and i can't find the song on youtube to listen to, i'll download it so i can hear it. i refuse to buy a song i've never heard before and be mad because i wasted the money.
6iTunes all the way!
I feel guilty if I download music/films/tv shows and don't pay.
Also, it's one less thing to worry about.
The only annoying thing is that it's so much cheaper in the US to download from iTunes. In the UK we pay 79p ($1.58) per song whereas it costs $0.99 (49p) per song in the US. Grrrr!
7I cant remember the last time I paid for anything... maybe "bad" but most of the stuff I like I wouldnt find elsewhere anyway. and I flat refuse to wait a year for tv shows which the US has already shown...If I had the option of content when I wanted it and HOW i wanted it, i would pay a reasonable price for it.
8I buy through iTunes or buy CDs. I personally don't have the time to waste waiting for songs to download via file sharing sites. Plus, a lot of those songs are poor quality. I'd rather just pay the $0.99... my time is way more valuable than that!!
9i've never even considered paying.
10like i'm going to answer this question!
11I'll never tell....
12no because i have a zune (which is like an ipod)
13and u can get free podcasts with the 14.99 monthly thing

14yeah for real tdamji, who's REALLY being honest here?

15i am a fan of sharing and buying.
