The other day I was headed home on the bus and I noticed a man passing the time with a DS lite. I was shocked at first, mostly because I am so used to seeing everyone zone out with their iPod or iPhone or sending emails on their smartphones.
I know only 31 percent of you have eBooks, which I presume is the most logical (or educational) commute gadget, but I want to know how you waste your to-and-fro time.

Sometimes I read, sometimes I play on my DS, sometimes I check my e-mail, sometimes I'm making calls. But since I ride a train to work every day, I'm able to make use of my commute time to do something fun or keep in touch with my family & friends.
I wish I could commute on the train or bus but I drive to work. But when I go long distances to class, I keep my iPod nearby in case they play I kissed a girl one more time on the radio!
I only have a 30 commute to work so I usually read or listen to my Ipod.
I play my DS on the bus or waiting at a bus stop for a bus, but not always. I usually end up reading a book (or reading on my/our new Sony ebook reader!) while listening to music on my ipod. my commute to work is about 1.5 hours there and almost the same amount of time back, so i have a lot of time to kill!
!!!!!!!
I usually text on my phone and listen to my ipod. I love it! I catch up with everyone on my rides home. I commute too early in the morning to catch up then, but I do listen to my ipod in the am too.
I do like to people watch, but then the bf tells me I'm staring and it's rude! LOL
It depends on my mood, sometimes I read and sometimes I watch/listen to my ipod.
only if i have some with me. most of the time, i just have my ds lite or gb advanced sp
I have an iphone so I just play with that - either checking out my Facebook page or just general internet. I also listen to music on it on the train. I see a lot of people with DSs and PS3s, we even have some portable DVD watchers - all for a 30 minute ride!
I drive but play my iPod in the car. If I could ride a bus I'd definitely bring my DS Lite!
I'm with Yao Ming on this one. We both use gadgets to pass the time on public transit.
Usually it's my DS Lite. Love that Planet Puzzle League.
I don't have to take public transportation, but I do have an hour commute, one way, every weekday and my iPod is my best friend those 2 hours a day.
I have my DS on me every where I go I had a long wait at my Dr's office so I whipped it out and played Super Mario Bros, it helps move the time along.
A thousand times yes. I'm usually with my iPhone, DS lite, a laptop, an iPod or a number of other gadgets. I like to be left alone on commutes.
I iPod.
Generally I'm the one driving, so I can't do much other than listen to music (or occasionally text - yes, I know...).
If I'm sitting somewhere waiting (or in a really boring meeting) I've been known to play BlockBreaker on my phone.
My commute takes around 30 - 50 minutes, yet I can't live without my Nokia N95 8GB. I tend to read the news, use my twitter client and instant messaging. Besides, it has a radio and music player. All you need
It used to take me an hour to get to school. Thank god for my ipod!
It depends. Sometimes when I go to school or use the train I listen to music or read or just sit there. I'm only on the train for 20 minutes and walk there for 10. I usually only do it if I can put my mp3 player in my pocket which is usually only in the winter or spring when I have a jacket. Since I'm only in high school I also don't have time to listen to music or use eBOOKS (which is a lazy form of reading IMO) because I'm studying.
My iPod is with me like 24/7! Couldn't live without it. And music is a must when driving/commuting.
i prefer a cool combo of hi/lo tech commuting options. i read, listen to music or play ds lite games. it really depends on how i feel at the time. i like to read and if i'm sure i can get a decent block of reading in, i'm grabbing the book. if my commute is close to 30 or less, i might do the game thing or read the paper. i think it's good to switch it up!
This a little off topic, but oh well. I live in Houston, and a friend of mine sold Yao Ming a set of headphones from Best Buy. Somehow, I don't think those in the picture are the same ones. . .

most of the time i take a book, iPod (with emergency tv episodes or movies), or my DS especially if I am going somewhere with a long wait- doctors offices or forced to family functions where I will get bored fast!
No. I generally read if I have time to really sit down with my book. However, I am a big gadget-user if I'm trying to kill time while waiting in lines!
I prefer the DS over my ipod. It keeps me occupied and I can still hear what's going on around me.
The Nokia N800, paired with a cell phone with HSDPA, and I barely notice the hour commute to work. I can listen to music, check my email, my RSS feeds, check out websites, read an ebook, and if all else fails, watch part of a movie or tv show. What more could I ask for?
Sometimes, but sometimes there is nothing like a good book. I can't get into the whole e-book thing
