Eighty-seven percent of respondents from a recent study believe renting DVDs at the video store or through mail services will become a thing of the past. I am not shocked at all considering what's available for download on iTunes, Amazon's streaming video, the fact that Xbox 360 streams Netflix movies, and the plethora of on-demand movie services.
The ecological positive of the trend is the fact that downloading movies is more convenient and eco-friendly than taking a drive out to the local video store. The survey, which was conducted by CinemaNow, reports that 94 percent of Americans believe that they make a bigger contribution to the environment by downloading a movie online than renting or buying at a video store. The poll found that consumer adoption of digital sharing features such as streaming to IP-enabled TV or loading content onto MP3 players still lags in comparison to burning DVDs. More than half (51 percent) of Americans say they’ve tried burning the digital movies onto DVDs versus 18 percent who have tried connecting them to set-top-boxes or cable box.

No, I haven't. I use netflix as always. I've always pictured each room in the house eventually having one screen that was your computer and tv which would also download movies and music. But that is still a ways off I guess. The apple version for movie downloads is so expensive, also. I have a Mac but I will stay with Netflix for now.
1i definitely download or stream movies/tv shows more than i used to. i used to by DVDs quite often. i can't afford to have a dvd by mail service, but i do borrow DVDs from the library, still...but that doesn't cost me anything, and i take the bus there or walk, so gas prices don't effect me in that way.
2I only buy DVDs on movies that are classics, I love or love the actor/actress. Otherwise than that I tend to download/stream movies.
3I would rent more digital stuff if the price would come down. Though I have been tempted by the Netflix box...
4if it was a monthly fee like the mail-service, i would totally do it. but when you're paying a fee per movie, i think that's kinda ridiculous. i love netflix but i wish the online streaming was Mac compatible!
5i like the experience of walking down the aisle and asking the clerks what they've seen lately or recommend. interaction with people is good!

7we live above 2 video stores, and still download........its so much cheaper~
8I have blockbuster online and I love it still! I like watching on my tv not my Laptop....But if I could download and watch on my TV FOR SURE!
