Taking screenshots on the old iPhone was a difficult task, requiring you to perform a preference hack then do some tricky moves with buttons just to get a screen grab. But thankfully on your iPhone 3G (and if you've updated to the 2.0 firmware update for an older iPhone), it's so much easier and doesn't require any hacking into your new, pristine toy.
To take a screenshot on an iPhone 2.0 (that's "two dot oh" to you, ma'am), all you have to do is hold down the Home button while pressing the Sleep/Wake button. Your screen will flash and presto, you have a screenshot. You can find your shot in your iPhone's photo app for easy download to iPhoto or Windows photo program. Simple. Like the iPhone itself, no?

you can do that too on the original iphone, as long as you updated your firmware. it's not only for the 3g.
1Okay I understand that the 3G is new and fabulous and everything but do we really need every other story on here to be about it? It's getting to the point where I can read every other blog on the Sugar network but this one, and this was what got me here in the first place. We don't need to know EVERY little detail about what the phone can do, maybe do one post with every cool thing you find, but ten different posts? Sorry guys, its gettin old.
2oh wow this is cool! thanks!
3you can't possibly find every new feature on the phone in one day. for those of us exploring our iphones these posts are great. not to mention it's like a mini computer so there's new stuff for it all the time. the iphone is here to stay, deal.
4I understand you are getting to know your phone (I guess it doesn't come with an instructions manual) but this whole Iphone takeover in geeksugar has been going on before the thing was even out in stores because apparently there is nothing else in this world as interesting as the Iphone...
5We get it, you bought a nice new toy and Steve Jobs is swimming in a pool of your money right now. Now why not figure out all aspects of the phone and make a nice complete post with all the details... It saves time to figure out more "amazing" things to do with it.
Thanks for the tip! I had no idea it did that. Love it!
And you know, you can skip these threads if you aren't interested in the iPhone. This will die down in a few days.
6can't wait til i can make use of this stuff
7Hey Queen, just trying to be helpful for those who do have an iPhone and would make use of the tip! If it's frustrating, I apologize.

Meh, don't worry... I'll just stay from geeksugar for a bit until this whole thing blows over hahaha

11When I do this, all it does is attempt to shut down my iPod? Anyone else?
