There used to be a time when all your gadgets and electronics were patently ugly. Having a computer meant embracing beige, and integrating electronics into your decor meant finding armoires that were big enough to hide a huge and ugly TV or stereo system.
Thankfully, we now live in a time where design in tech means more than rectangular shapes and where to put the on button — aesthetics of the gadget is a big consideration. You can pick a white TV to go with your decor, rather than disrupt it, or mount a flat screen TV and wow your guests.
Abbey Nova, featured on Design Sponge for her gorgeous home interior, has benefited from this. Not only has she chosen a pretty red laptop case, but on her desk, it functions as an accent, the same way her vintage telephone and bulletin board photos do.

Those computer color cases are cute, but they are murder for your laptops. A friend of mine bought a pink cover case for her MacBook, and when she put it in, the computer looked smudged, and when she removed the laptop, the case left bad scratches. She almost cried when she saw her beautiful white MacBook scratched up. So, I said no way. I'd rather have my MacBook its same dull white color.
1I miss the old G3 iBooks, the one with the plastic casing painted on the inside. I took mine apart, removed the white paint and repainted it red. I'm so disappointed I haven't been able to do that again.
2LOVE the red laptop and red telephone! Such fun!
3I love my red laptop. It's so cute! I also like the colored Dells. The green and yellow ones are really nice.
4I'll stick with my silver one. The corkboard in that picture is darling though. I loved how she used that type of frame for the notes.
5I have never put that kind of case on my computer as I think my aluminum is sexxxy enough. I love my Mac but do occasionally wish I had some color choices like the, er, um, Dells
6I love my red laptop cover! It may cause a few scratches (none that I've seen on mine), but it protects it, too! Everyday bumps and bangs don't directly hit the computer, as they've got a nice pretty acrylic cover to absorb the shock.
7I have the same laptop red cover! It's quite attractive and protects the laptop from accidental scratches and blows. Downside is it accumulates a bit of dirt overtime, so you have to occasionally take your laptop out and do a little cleaning. Other than that, it's perfect.
