Since Second Life is so five years ago, you can either stay with the same 'ole, same 'ole, or jump ship and live out your virtual reality dreams in some new digs brought to you by Google. Lively, the new VR world lets you create avatars, design and customize your "chat" rooms, and invite other users to visit, helping you make new friends to hang out with. . . virtually.

But what's different about Lively than other virtual reality sites like Second Life, is you aren't stuck on one website to roam around in. You can enter Lively from sites like Facebook (which is already up and running), other social networking sites, and blogs. Still in beta, Lively is free, but only available to Windows users running IE and Firefox. Hopefully, the Mac fans will be able to invade your virtual world soon!

Wow!! That's awesome. Sounds really fun. I'm going to have to check that out soon. :]
1IMVU?
I tried something like this for a while, and it sure was cute, but I'm not much of a chatter and eventually lost interest. It was a cool concept, though.
2looks cool, but i don't have a PC.
3Second Life has become so overwrought with porn, that an alternative sounds like a nice idea. I'll give it a go once it becomes available for mac.
4I'm really excited to try this
5is that really what the graphics look like? is it in beta stages?
6I have been interested in checking out second life, although I never really get around to it. But to hear that it is a porn haven is a big turn off. There is nothing I hate more than porn spammers. When I am trying to play a good game of chess on Yahoo games, and have to wade through endless amounts of porn spam, just to chat a little with another actual chess player, it is such a turn off. Thats the main reason I don't play chess on yahoo games anymore.
7i'm too buys with my own life to get involved in a second one.
8i did a mktg project for 2L for school last year, and felt that you need to pay too much attention to the site to get the most out of it. can't really run other programs while in it, and forget about multi-tasking.
I love stuff like this. I am definitely downloading it now : )
