I had a bluetooth headset for a long time (3+ years), then my husband got me this really cool built-in navigation with bluetooth technology integrated to it. its really cool

I vote for focus on driving and don't talk on your cell phone. Even with a hands-free accessory, talking on the phone is distracting and takes some of your attention away from the road.

I personally would rather hold my phone than use any of the wireless bluetooth headpieces I've tried (or the iphone earbud for that matter).

I use the earbuds and cord thingy that came with my Blackberry. I also have a Bluetooth, but I feel like the battery juice runs out so quick.

Here in Dallas, TX going through a school zone (even during summer school) talkin on the phone or texting will get you a ticket. Normally I don't talk while driving but I recently got a Motorola H700 in Plumb and I love it!

My car has handsfree link. So I paired the phone with car.

I have a Jawbone 2. It works great but I hardly use it. Its just for emergency purposes.

I usually only use the earbud combo if someone calls while I'm listening to TV, though. (Voyager user)

I don't talk on the phone much in the car, and rarely for more than a minute. If I need to, sometimes I hit the speaker phone button.

My car has a handsfree link as well. I usually keep my phone calls very brief while driving anyway.

I bought a new car two months ago, and a bluetooth pairing on the car itself was one of my few requirements. Not sure how I lived without it.

My new car came equipped with bluetooth pairing through the speakers. It's pretty cool so I don't have to hassle with an earpiece anymore.

The phone I have came with a crappy headset,nokia 5030,and I'm shopping around for a nice one. I'm really not a fan of bluetooth ear pieces. There is way too much "well maybe" going on about health risks linked to those.

I have my Apple Bluetooth headset which I use most of the time, if I need to talk on the phone in the car. It is so tiny I am in constant fear that I'm going to lose it. I'm having my Garmin Nuvi 760 installed in my car today that also has hands free (it was supposed to be yesterday but that's another story). I'm looking forward to it and not having to have something in my ear.

But can I just say it was so nice to drive around today and not see people on the phone?? The only person I saw on the phone got busted by CHP right away. It was awesome.

At the risk of sounding promotional - for me, the biggest nightmare danger of driving isn't talking.. it's dialing into the 5 freakin' conference calls i have each day. Since I'm always running around, i have found myself dialing into them from the road. I know, bad idea. I recently started working with a startup that solves this... no more passcodes or long dial in numbers. www.myvello.com dials OUT to everyone. That's my sassiest accessory. When it's time for a meeting, my phone just rings.

I just bought a new car this weekend and it comes with bluetooth so I will be primarily using that. I also have the red jawbone for my iphone and that works great too.

I've been using bluetooth since they first came out - the ugly big Motorola (which they still sell) was my first. I've been married to my flamingo for almost 3 years. Love it!

People who talk and drive should be arrested. Cops in California will initially crack down on violators, but, as we've seen on the east coast, they forget about it after a bit.

I am not a fan of the new law because no matter which device you use, the sound quality is just not as good as a phone to your ear. I love talking on my phone in the car. Its how I catch up with everyone.

My car has some sort of phone hook-up, so now I'll have to investigate...

I have an old Motorola bluetooth that I love, so I didn't bother to replace it when I upgraded my phone. Eventually....

This is still a bad law, though, and a great example of why government should not be allowed to micromanage our lives. There are no laws about other distractions, like dogs on laps and eating in the car. They have shown that taking to other passengers in the car is just as distracting a talking on a cellphone. Distracted driving is the *real* issue.

I do understand why some people don't think this is a good law. As someone that is on and off the road more than most people I can tell you that the last three days of driving have been bliss. I haven't been almost hit in three days. I think the knots in my shoulders are starting to loosen up a bit. Maybe my gray hairs will go away too? I love it.

I was under the impression that there were laws in california about dogs and food, maybe they just need to be enforced.

macgirl, I don't know whether there are laws or not, but it just seems to be sloppy legislating to me. Why not just make one law governing distracted / negligent / reckless driving and be done with it?

I'm always in favor of regulating the *behavior* instead of the contributing cause, because that's when it rises to a public issue. For instance, it's not illegal for me to have anger issues *until* I abuse my children.

Lainetm, I totally agree with you. I had heard they tried to make this more of an all encompassing law to include other things like texting and emailing but took it out as they just don't have good laws on the books to deal with these "new" digital distractions. If they try and bundle too many things together the politicians find ways to spin doctor certain aspects of the law and get it voted out. I am hoping that they will move forward and add/enforce other distractions as well.

If you're on the road as much as it seems, you have my sympathy. It's a war zone out there!

I agree with Morgs - even the cops are ignoring the law and talking while driving here in CT.

I'm a big fan of the new law in LA... I finally broke down and got the bluetooth (the cheapest one they had at Staples!) and I didn't think that talking on my phone distracted me that much until i noticed how much easier it was talking on the bluetooth!

I work for a non-profit, so not picking up is rarely an option!
