A Teen Addicted to Texting Sends 15,000 Messages a Month

On average, how many text messages would you guesstimate you send each month? I would say I average about five or more a day, so I probably max out at around 150 - 200 per month. Well Paige Horne, a 15-year-old from Ohio, averages about 15,000 texts a month — that's even more than what the 13-year-old National Texting Champ sends! According to NewsNet5, Paige plays volleyball and basketball and her GPA is above 3.0, and yes, she is a lightening fast texter.

"I just don't look. I guess I had the phone a long time and I just know where the buttons are and I just hit them," she said. Thankfully for her parents, she's under an unlimited phone plan where texting is included, but I can't help but ask what she's doing for all her sore fingers?

    15000????????????????
I average at around 700 a month, and my sister, who's a messaging addict, probably averages at around 1500 a month. This girl, is wacko.
I wonder how many messages each of her friends must get a day Sticking out tongue

My question - does Paige's school weight grades? 'Cuz if they do, a GPA "above 3.0" is really not that stellar. In this day and age of grade inflation (I'm a teacher in Ohio, so I can tell you it's rampant here), 3.0 might not even be a big huge deal if it's an actual, unweighted formula.

If she was in my class, I'd be ticked. There's no way you can send 1500 texts/mo and keep them all OUTSIDE the school day.

Well my 16 year old daughter hit 10,000 last month..i guess when you are sending the letter K over and over all day..it adds up..Does it annoy me that she is walking around clicking all day..you bet..but IMHO it's better than hearing yapping with a phone attatched to her ear..I hear enough of peoples conversations as it is.

Imagine if she sent these via twitter. Let's hope she never discovers it.

neko -- she'd be that twitter girl from the youtube video! haahaa

i read that story yesterday on cnn and thought how much her fingers had to hurt. and i'm sure she's texting things like k, lol, lmao, idk, etc. so that probably does add up.

i send real messages and i text about 1000 a month. but only because i don't like talking on the phone. i'll carry on conversations in text unless i'm driving.

I am a text message junkie, but it's because I HATE talking on the phone. I have to put up with clients calling in all day, so when I get off work, I am in a phone-call free zone. Plus, my current boyfriend is doing a detachment in Alaska... so generally there's a lot of texting going on all day. But hey, I have the unlimited texting plan too, so I'm not worried about it. Eye-wink

The Husband's client arrived to a meeting with him completely white. his teen daughter had come home with a "overage" on her text messages, and he thought it was a mistake. she had almost 30 THOUSAND texts in one month, which they had averaged out to about 890+ texts per day.

and no, they didn't let him off the hook for it, either. he had to pay up and he set the daughter's plan to cut her off after 50 texts per month. she might have exploded when he told her that...

it made my teenager look like a digital idiot, and we were happy about that!

but still 15,000 a month is a lotttttttttttttttt, whoa.

Okay, so I'm in 9th grade and I'm on at&t, this Christmas I finally got a cell phone, a Razr (it's PINK!), and texting came with it, well, that is 400 texts a month! The first month I went over by 200 (I was wasting most of them on a boy, ick), but now, I try to keep it down. Well by the 14th this month I only have 7 texts left, no, 5 because I bought "Play that Funky Music" and "7 things" for ringtones. I wish I had unlimited!

And I thought my 17 year old sending 3000 text messages a month was bad. Good thing most cell companies have unlimited texting plans. All of her friends are the same way. I guess young people don't talk on the phone anymore. Plus texting is a silent way to communicate during class. As a high school teacher you have to watch the cell phones. Answers for tests can be sent that way. No one writes answers on their hands anymore or passes papers when the teachers not looking. They just text.
