Kid Rock Says Illegally Downloading Music Is Like Stealing Cars

We haven't really heard from Kid Rock in a while, but now that he's surfaced, he has some strong words for illegal downloaders of music. He gets pretty far in his satirical tirade comparing illegal music downloads to stealing iPods, laptops, and cars, before I say: We Get It Already. Stealing is bad.

I'm not a fan of Kid Rock in the least. However, I do agree that stealing music is just like stealing other things like iPods, cars, etc. It takes money to create music. Therefore, we should pay for it. I mean no one works for free.

    ah he can suck it.

if the artist is worth shelling out 20 bucks for a cd or 40 buck for a show, then i'll pay

otherwise i'll continue dl my music.

what do these artists need with more money than they deserve just to buy another gold toilet seat and stuff?

um everyone knows that the bulk of an artist's profit comes from everything besides cd sales. Hello, thats the reason why every artist dabbles in a million different things. Even before everyone bought cds, bands like Nsync for example made their money off of tours, merchandise, etc. CD's are just a small small aspect of their total wealth.

Kid Rock and other artists should just stop whining, they're still rich, people still attend concerts, etc. Besides, he should just be thankful someone would even want to download his crap.

Stock down Kid. The music industry is so clueless.

Since when is it a bad thing that people are listening to your music? I get free music every single time I turn on WebRadio. And if I wanted the song, NP, just hit the record button. Why does the music industry have such a hard-on for internet downloads? If your music is worth owning, people will still buy it!

If you want to stimulate CD sales, put something in them that your true fans will want and appreciate. Not just the music (cause again, we get that on the radio). I buy every Tool CD that comes out. I enjoy the artwork and the extra info in the jacket. Of course this may mean you have to do more with your brain than absorb wavy gravy.

If the music industry had reacted by stimulating innovation instead of class action law suites when Napster became popular, then maybe Apple (a computer company) wouldn't be the leader in legal internet music downloads.

People shouldn't downlaod music illegally. Period. But major labels also engage in questionable copyright issues. Controlled Composition Clause. Check it out. It's pretty horrible what major labels do to musicians.
I agree crazysexycool. The majority of the music industry has not continued to innovate, and has attempted to curb the use of technology all together. Advancements in the music industry used to be about fidelity, quality, and now they are about convenience. I think the best hope for the music business (esp for majors and larger indies) would be a subscription service. Lack of vision is what's killing music sales.
But for people who think outside the box, sales are doing fine. Vinyl sales are up, and look at what NIN has done. That's pretty rad.

The illegal downloading industry is getting bigger and bigger. Personally i do download in rather large quantities. I think the potentially lucrative market the record labels ought to focus on is live music. Honestly i would rather pay money to watch a good quality live show, which i feel would allow me to appreciate the music much better.
