Favicon is the name of one of those things where you know what it is, you just don't know what it's called (like the thingie that holds the ends of your shoelaces together).
A favicon, or a web icon or urlicon, is the little icon that appears on the URL bar to the left. Google just updated theirs, and I've compiled the favicons for the Sugar sites here.
I get a certain delight when I see a favicon I haven't seen before because it just adds creativity and a great little detail to your website or blog!

that happens to me all the time where you know what it is, you just don't know what it's called it's so frustrating when that happens and some people kind of look at you like your kind of crazy when your trying to explain it to them what it is or they know what your talking about but they don't know what it's called either it's really annoying
1I'd like to know how to add your own favicon to your blog url. Can you do it if you don't have your own domain?
2I love favicons, they're the little cherry on top of a website sundae. I've created and amassed a rather large collection to choose from whenever putting together a new site.

This link will walk you though the steps to adding a favicon to your site:

Good luck!
4Hehe. I love favicons! I redid my livejournal recently with a Pushing Daisies theme and now my favicon is a cute little daisy.
I was so proud of it. LOL.
5I'm a fan of favicons, they are definitely fun and cute!
and with the new firefox 3.0, you get extra info about the website you're visiting when you click on the favicon.
6So that's what they're called!
I feel so much more enlightened
now.
7we just added a favicon to our site and the people freaked out. good laughs.
8Thanks 4 the tip geek!
A question: Whatare the things on the end of your shoelaces called??
9Thank you GeekSugar! Off to add a favicon to my blog
10I love them, thanks GeekSugar! It actually bothers me when a website does not have it LOL
11pacwoman: Aglets!
On my Bloglines, for some sites it does not have the favicon, but when I put them on my toolbar the favicons show up. Hmmm.
Why no favicon for Save to Teamsugar?
12I've been musing on a favicon for our corporate website because once you navigate away from the homepage the URLs get really funky, so I want users to be able to glance up and know they are still on our page. Especially because we take donations through the web. Obviously we use security certificates and stuff to let people know its REALLY safe. But it just top notch branding!
