This makes me a little less bitter at United for charging $15 per checked bag: the airline is installing iPod and iPhone docks on its airplanes. Not only will you be able to charge your battery at your seat, you'll be able to scroll through your music and videos from the seat back's screen! Don't watch from that silly little screen, watch from behind somebody's head!
The first few flights to boast the Apple connectivity will be transatlantic, and will sadly be for first-and business-class passengers. That had better not last, or my forgiveness for the checked-bag fee will quickly depart.

I don't understand this. If the airlines are so poor they have to charge us to check our bags, why spend the money to install ipod docks???
1thinking the same thing as imLissy!
why are they spending money on ipod docks if they are hurting so bad because of fuel that they are going to be charging us extra! completely dumb.
2first class and business class overseas fliers aren't paying to check their bags. i guess they want the rest of us to bump up!
3Not that I'm complaining... but buh? Why bother if they're hurting financially?
4It sounds like Panasonic is doing the financing for the dock installations, so financially, it's unrelated to charging the bags, I think.
