I'm all about change when it has to do with evolving and improving, but seriously — first Strawberry Shortcake gets totally transformed (I love Strawberry Shortcake Gen 1 much better), and now Sanrio is coming out with new characters called Cherinacherine that bear a striking resemblance to Hello Kitty?!
OK, so I've kinda been slacking in the Hello Kitty department lately, but that doesn't mean Hello Kitty needs some younger and plushier competition! I guess Sanrio will be releasing Cherinacherine bags, toys, cell phone straps and all the other goodies that we'll use to come in HK. . . this is just the beginning folks! I'm scared to see what's next!

9Hello Kitty will never be in any danger of removal from Sanrio's product line. As stated above, Sanrio is constantly adding new characters to their lineup. My Melody, Charmimmy, and these new mice are only a few in the girl line. They used to have a frekishly cute puppy when I was smaller, but it was phased out. (probably because of it's freakish nature)

12Yeah. Like what the people above me said. Sanrio comes out with new characters all the time so anyone who's freaking out can calm their asses down. I don't think we'll be seeing too much tech merchandise with them on it, it'll still probably be Hello Kitty coz she'll be forever popular.

17Good riddance. Hello Kitty irritates me beyond belief. There are so many more Sanrio characters that are soo much cuter(Badtz Maru, Keroppi, Tenorikuma, Sweet Coron), and have much less merch. That always saddens me when I go to the Sanrio Store or other stores... I don't feel the love for my faves...
18i wouldn't be too worried about Hello Kitty - these cuties are totally different. There are all kinds of new characters that North Americans don't see very often in the Sanrio stores.
19umm...hello, have you never been to a Sanrio store? There are dozens of OTHER characters besides Hello Kitty....!
