I might need a new TV. Yesterday Apartment Therapy highlighted this gorgeous Hitachi LCD ultraslim flat-panel television. Not only do I have a crush on the white frame, but also I'm excited for this trend in electronics. The iPhone 3G, the MacBook, now TVs . . . what's next?
I believe the trend can be attributed to Apple — the iPod remained clothed in its iconic white for a few years (I once read in Domino that Apple wouldn't surrender its formula for the specific shade of white).
We were accustomed to that yucky beige for years, and then everything seemed to trend black, and now we're finally seeing more clean, colorless white. You know how I feel about it; how do you?

I don't really care about the color of the frame per se, as long as it looks clean and goes with my other decor. I'm really more interested in the specs of the gadget inside!
1I have a 19-inch Samsung LCD HDTV and I love it. The color plays a big part in the love. I've always had a white TV in my bedroom- went from a 13 inch white tube with a VCR in it to the one I have now. White electronics look clean and more girl friendly. Given the option I would never choose black over white, or any other color really. Black is so blasé.
2First off, white TVs are not a new thing. I had one about 8 years ago. I didn't like it because it got dirty so easily.
I'm way more interested in the quality of the picture than the color of what's surrounding it. Personally, I think black is probably best, because usually when you put a bright color next to black, it looks much brighter than when you put it next to white.
With that said, I'd love it if we could start choosing the color of our TVs.
3i'd buy a white tv. i have to dust regularly because of my severe allergies so dirt wouldn't be an issue. but it's nice to have a change of pace every once in a while.
4I only go for the industry leader, thats Pioneer, and they have SHIRO (Japanese-White) version of the best TV in the market -KURO. So, Shiro-Kuro would be my dream come true

I'm going more and more for
white electronics, rather than beige, grey, and black... function still trumps design, though. I'd totally go for a white TV.

11I wouldn't get a white TV. The colors on TV pop out more when placed next to a shiny black frame. I'm all about performance and picture quality rather than the color of my gadgets.
12Cool post! i have all white furniture and electronics in my home, and it sounds so bland at first, but when guests see it, it looks much bolder in person! good job, geek!

16i work in an electronics store, and one of my favorite products in the store is the white 23" samsung lcd tv. i've been restraining myself from buying one for over a year! the next time i buy a tv, that's definitely going to be it.

18The white TV itself is pretty, but it's so much harder to make it match te rest of your decor nicely than a black or silver TV.

I had a while cell phone a few years back and I loved it more because of its color than anything else.
If this is becoming a trend, then I'm all for it. Every time I like something (laptop, cellphone) my first thought is if it comes in white. They usually don't, so I settle for silver. Not a fan of black electronics at all.

28Yes I'm looking for TV's. All my walls are white and I don't want it to stand out. I'm an artist and want to use it to display art (videos or photo slide-show) and white is the most elegant for that purpose. If it is silver or black I was planning to have a white custom-built frame around it when it's used for showing art.
