I'm floored by how good the mail, photo and calendar applications look running in a browser. They look nearly identical to the desktop versions and they are RUNNING IN A BROWSER!!! Whoa. Someday we'll run all our applications in browsers. No doubt about it.

Will it be enough to get me to give up google calendar, remember the milk, flickr, and my other FREE services? I'm not sure yet, but I'm interested.

since i can get all that crap for free on my desktop, i can't see paying to have it in a browser. i'm okay just syncing things. i'm always on a computer somewhere.

At $8 per month for push calendar/mail/photos/addresses between my iphone, home computer, and work computer this is definitely worth it.

I am always at a computer, but not always the same one, so the day that everything is browser based, so I essentially sit down at my computer no matter where i am, will be a great day indeed.

I love love love it as I already subscribe to .mac... the thing that bums me out is I *think* my beloved @mac.com email addresses (um, yes I have more than one...) is going to change to an @me.com blech. I was watching the video on it yesterday and everything was me.com. I really hope they let me keep my mac.com.

I'm not 100% clear on what is different about Mobile Me vs. .Mac. Didn't we have the ability to sync all this stuff before?

If you have a .Mac account, your account will be switched over to a me.com account...I think.

I have a friend who works on the MobileMe development team. It's hard not to like it when he's so enthusiastic about it, but I still don't know if it's worth the price tag. I'll check out the trial soon.

the main difference in .mac and me.com is that the synchronizing happens over the air. Meaning you make a change on your iCal and it is immediately pushed to every device/computer that you have. No more plugging in cords to sync! Also they have made a suite of web apps that look just like your Mail and iCal. You can even drag and drop things in the web app just like you would on your computer. It is pretty crazy. So the biggest draw I would see to use that web app is if you worked on multiple computers, say, one at work and one at home.. Even if your computer at work is a PC you have the ability to use these web apps that look and work just like your mac!!

Also- side note to people who have Apple servers like you sugar peeps- the Snow Leopard upgrade next year will have all the ability to do this push email and calendar built in. Also the iCal server will rock with real invites, groups and sharing abilities. Not to mention a REAL shared address book. The current implementation in Leopard leaves this reviewer cold.

macgirl - the next upgrade is going to be called Snow Leopard? very cool. i had .mac years ago when it first came out but since i am always at home on my computer, i don't think it'd be very useful for me these days. i hope they don't change the email accounts to @me.com! that sounds very lame.

I've heard that your email will change to me.com but you'll still keep your mac.com email address. Unless I got so excited about it that I imagined that part.

i never used .mac and I had it free for a year, I doubt I will have a need for this as well. there's a funambol app on the new iphone but it doesn't sync the calendar yet. I'm hoping they will upgrade this soon

I had a .mac account and didn't use it enough to justify the expense.
