My 30 day Wi Fit Fitness Challenge is fast approaching the home stretch, and I couldn't be happier with the results! In just three weeks, I'm down four pounds, which may not seem like a lot, but it's pretty awesome considering I stopped my usual routine of going to the gym and didn't change my eating habits. Although I might miss my goal of losing eight pounds, I think losing any inches (and getting closer to a healthier BMI) is a pretty good testament that the Wii Fit really does work.
I spent a ton of time getting down with Rhythm Boxing, and increased my aerobic fitness (surely at the dismay of my downstairs neighbors) with the Free Run this week. I'm not so enthused about jogging in the real world, but when it comes to running with Wii Fit, I'm a calorie burner! Who knew!? To hear more about why I'm so into the Free Runs, and get a few more tips on how to fire up your Wii Fit workouts, just read more.
The best part about the "Free Run" is that you can change the channel, watch a movie, or catch up on episodes of The Hills, while jogging along. Your trainer will update you through the Wiimote and tell you if you are keeping a good pace and how much longer you have to go until your goal time. My only complaint? I wish you could increase your free run time in smaller increments — jumping from a 10 minute run to a 20 minute run might be a bit much for a novice runner to handle!
But to get a really awesome, sweat-inducing workout while running, try lifting your knees up high or taking a wider stance to work all the muscles in your legs. And I can't stress enough about how holding small weights in your hands while you're running (and really swinging those arms) will get your blood pumping — and tone your shoulders to boot!
Oh, and that Jackknife Trainer Challenge? My abs are burning just thinking about it! Have you been loving your Wii Fit this week? Tell us about your favorite exercises, and share your progress in the comments below!

I so Want one of these!
1This seals the deal...I really need a Wii!
2This is great! I love that you are seeing results and having fun!
3i've been loving your updates. i don't have one but i'm jealous more and more each day!
4How about a Hula video?
5I am loving it! The yoga really feels wonderful on my back. I am totally feeling many of the exercises in my abs! I haven't unlocked the free-run yet, but that sounds cool. I have to say that my fav's are strength training and yoga. I am absolutely horrible at soccer!!
6I like that you can change the channel during your free run!
7I'm on week 2 and I've lost 1.5 pounds.
8I've lost 4 lbs as well.
In addition to about 30 mins of WiiFit a day I have been going for walks every couple of evenings (I did that before the WiiFit anyway) and have been watching my portion sizes. I still eat whatever I want, whenever I want it, but I'm doing my best to not eat seconds and to make sure I'm acutally hungry and not just eating out of boredom.
9I have a really hard time with any of the floor exercises where you have to put your hands/arms on the balance board. I need to get one of those plastic covers maybe.
10ohhh i can't wait to start using it! I finally got a hold of one from amazon!
11Must fiiiind one...
12I LOVE mine! I have been doing it for about an hour a day and have lost 5 lbs!! And I can't bring myself to change my eating habits yet, but if I did, it would make a big change.
It's funny that you mention your neighbors, I think mine are probably looking at me wondering why I look like I'm making sweet love to the air in front of my tv. Seriously, the hula hooping almost looks a little provocative, haaha!!
I'm with you though hanako, I am terrible at soccer, but really good at the ball drop balance exercise!
13Dying for one. Absolutely have to get my hands on one of these suckers
14I have to say my bf and I have had ours about a week and love it..we use Wii Fit as well as Wii Sports, and being into gaming in general it is a healthier option than our old Warcraft habit. *cough*
Totally love the rhythm boxing, the super hula-hoop extended time, and the Yoga. I feel them all working through my back, abs, hips and legs, but I also make time for Wii Sports Tennis as I find it also gives a good workout if you clear some space and "play" it with your body and not just your arms.
Wii is win!
15I'm so jealous. I can't afford this, but I would LOVE it!
16wow - those are impressive results, Geek!
17i want one so bad. i think im in love.
18I have gained three pounds since I started with Wii Fit. I am considered normal now. So that is awesome. I love doing yoga and love the boxing. I also spend time doing the free step while I read. I take my balance board and place it on a piece of wood that is taller so that it is more of a workout. But I am gaining muscle and loosing fat in my body. So if there are people that have that scrawny look this game is helping me looked more muscular and less squishy and skinny.
19my boyfriend has been trying to get me interested in his wii so we can bowl and play tennis (which i like, but not all the time...) -- his latest endeavor is to land me one of these wii fitness badboys..and now i'm going CRAZY reading about them!! must.....have....wii.....FIT!!
or i'm gonna have a not-so-wii fit!!
20Rock on! I say anything that gets you moving is a good thing.
21I want one!
22I've never been into gaming or whatnot, but this sounds fun! I never realized that wii could be like that. I'm definitely tempted to buy this.
23wow.. i mean i've never been much of a gamer, but it's interesting to see how things are changing in the world of video games
24cool!
25I did the lunges and they were so hard! I could only do 3 per leg instead of ten and I was sore for *days*
26I am not into video games but I am really thinking about this.
27If none of you have heard of this website...this is how I got my wii-fit (with 2 day delivery too!)

28I finally gave in and got one on ebay. I love it already. glynislily, I'm glad to hear about your results because I need to add some pounds of muscle too.
29I did a 20-minute free run yesterday and fit 4 miles! I started watching TV during the run, but changed it back to Wii. I start running faster when other Miis pass me! I totally feel it today. I can only do the free runs when my downstairs neighbor isn't home, but luckily that's very often
I've lost 1.5 lbs this week!
30btw, this is definitely the first video game that made me have to take a shower after playing. Haha
31
there's none at the stores
32I WANT ONE TOO!!!
33That is so awesome. Congratulations! Four pounds is very significant considering you didn't even change your diet. Makes me think the Wii Fit has figured something out.
34nancita: are you saying that she wouldn't have lost any weight at all if she ran outside and went to a yoga class instead of using the wii fit?!!!
35Still in my first week, loving it!
36I love the wii It makes me bulk up and helps my balance.
37I use picture in picture during my free run
Its soooo cool that you do this. Thanks for the update!!
38Today was my 11th day of WII training and I have lost 6lbs. I'm also dieting and just can't beleive how much the WII has helped. I'm loving it.
39After reading this article, I went out and got a Wii (I head been lusting after it for a while) and a Wii Fit. LOVE THEM! Who knew a fat girl could do yoga and have good balance? That Hula Hoop game looks easy, but you can get a major burn from it. I think I have finally found something exercise wise I can stick to!
40I think I'm the only girl on the planet who sucks at the Hula Hoop, but I love the boxing and step dancing. The run is great too...I start every day by doing the yoga for 1/2 hour, and alternate between strength training and cardio. I can't believe how much better I feel and I've lost 3 lbs so far. Everything feels much tighter and structured - Wii Fit is amazing! I talk it up to everyone, and since I've bought mine four more people at work have bought a copy! Wii Fit is just awesome!!!
41i've never been into game systems or games in general but this has me very intrigued....
42I LOVE my WiiFit! I actually won my Wii console last month in a fundraising raffle for my nephew's baseball team. When I saw about the WiiFit coming out, I really wanted to get one. After striking out online and in the stores for a few days, I happened to see on the Walmart website that my local store had some in stock, so I managed to get one.
The first time I tried it out was that evening, and I was really depressed at the results of my first body test. In fact, this first time my WiiFit age was twenty years older than my actual age. However, the next morning I began a routine of working out for 30-40 minutes after having my morning tea and fruit with the paper. I start out with some of the yoga for stretching and getting warmed up before I head into some balance exercises and then aerobics. Then I finish with a little more yoga to cool down. After almost two weeks of this, I have lost 4 pounds and my WiiFit age has been as low as half my age (that was a real incentive and perker-upper!).
Not being in the best of shape, I started out with a focus on stretching and getting my body more limber. Gradually, I am increasing the time I'm spending on the aerobic things (favorites are the step dancing, runs (actually I usually walk in place as I don't have the knees for running) and hula hoops) to burn more calories.
Just the progress I've made on the WiiFit has been an incentive for me to try to get more exercise and get in better shape. My body feels better, more limber, and I think my posture has gotten better. Also, I've not really changed my eating habits, but my progress is encouraging me to do more to get in shape. Between the WiiFit and my having just started working with my 10-month yellow lab in an agility class, I look for my results to improve.
BTW, I also recommend the Wii bowling game that comes on the disc with the Wii console. I used to bowl tons several years ago and this is really fun for me. It is also really good for stretching the muscles in your arms, legs, thighs, and rear. You really feel like you've been bowling.
43I'm doing my own 30 day challenge - though I'm not sticking to it as much as I should!
I love the Yoga and the stepping - I just had my first go on Freestyle stepping while watching Hollyoaks and it really works your legs! I need to unlock the running so I can do that while watching tv too.
I have taken to holding a Wiimote in each hand to give my arms a work out and will upgrade to hand weights when I'm ready.
44another fitness games from wii i've tried and found good4 weightloss is My fitness coach. cheap and hard to find game stock. http/www.gamestock.co.uk/my-fitness-coach
45Hi all! I am in the UK. I did my 28th day on my Wi Fit today. At the start I weighed in at 12 stone 5 Pounds: Roughly 173lbs. 34+ inch waist. I do about 6 of the muscle exercises, My Free run record is 7.652km in 20 minutes. I do the step challenge easily (it is a good work down) after the free run. I finish off by doing about 6 of my favourite yoga exercises and 30 sit ups to give the abs a final blast. In all I do steady exercise for about an hour.
Today I weigh in at 11stone 4.5lbs = 158.5 lbs = a loss of 14.5lbs I am a 32- inch waist (new jeans! Yes!). The weight is coming off a little slower now because I think I have shifted the bulk of fat and converting it to muscle. I know I must not get demoralised by this slow down. My target weight is 11 stone. My BMI is 22.84 and I would like to get it down to 22. My Wi age has ranged from 34 to 51, today it is 41! And hey! I am 60 next month! I eat healthy and have given up booze. Stopped smoking 15 years ago. Wi does really work and no gym fees, travel etc. Keep at it and enjoy.
