Yesterday, PetSugar informed me about a magical transportation service called BoltBus — an affordable, geek-friendly way to travel. So I maybe don't need to take a bus anytime soon in the New York, Philadelphia, Boston, or Washington region, but hello?! It's a frickin bus with free WiFi, which is still a luxury, and for the best part. . . there are outlets, in every seat!
What does this mean? Well for me it means unlimited hours of blogging and emailing, but for others this could mean watching some of your favorite movies and TV shows from sites like Hulu. Public transportation usually isn't that glamorous, but this definitely helps!

I live pretty much right in between NY and Philly. Bummer.
1There are a lot of bus companies here in the DC area that travel between here and NY with free Wifi. It's great!
2we have the mega bus in the chicago,kc,stl area and i would totally love it if i could watch movies without draining my battery during my trips. i love taking the bus rather than driving and if i could still do it for 16 bucks roundtrip and have full access to my fav tech gadgets i would be in heaven. or as close as it gets on a bus!
3No way. This is so cool! Except right now it only goes from my city (Philly) to NY and not to DC or Boston.
4whiplash, if you look, you can book from philly to nyc and then from nyc to boston. you can also book from philly to nyc and then from nyc to DC... which is kind of backwards, but still cheap, so if you dont mind a 4 hour trip to get someplace 2 hours away... it would cost you very little.
speaking of costing very little... geek you werent joking when you said its cheap. i just found a trip from philly -> nyc -> boston for TWO DOLLARS
5I just booked my first trip with Bolt Bus the other from DC to NY. $10.50, including tax!!! That's almost cheaper than a ride NY to Long Island! Plus, you can book a trip up to three hours before the reservation time.
I am looking forward to coming back home in comfort =]
6I was stuck behind this bus last week while in traffic in CT and used their wireless to find an alternate route using google maps.
7Interesting idea, and love the free wifi.... although it reminds me of a very early social network called bolt. They had free email along with chat and a few other things similar. Almost identical logo too!!!
8BoltBus also offers $1 seats in every bus (if you book early enough and catch it). Another bus company, MegaBus also has free wifi and $1 seats. However, MegaBus doesn't have outlets in each seat. MegaBus services NYC, Boston, DC among other cities. At the moment, they are offering free rides on NYC-Boston, and NYC-DC routes.

10That's pretty cool. I have ridden Megabus before and it's a pretty good line as well. If you go to http://www.busjunction.com you can search for tickets on those lines by date.
