International bookseller Borders recently announced that it would be breaking free from Amazon after a seven-year partnership. It's already launched a revamped website that's intended to provide a more "real-world" visual online book-shopping experience — something that Amazon doesn't offer just yet. The new and improved site features a "Magic Shelf," an interactive browsing window that enables users to check out highlighted music, books, and movie titles.

I don't know about you, but when it comes to book shopping, I want to get in, get out, and get the best price (all online, that is). Usually I know exactly what I want, so I couldn't care less about a fancy online shopping experience . . . I base my final site decision solely on the price tag. What about you?

I use Amazon Prime, which for a yearly fee gets you free 2-day shipping and $3.99 overnight shipping. I split it with 3 other friends, and only costs $20 each. A great deal - I can decide I want a book and have it on my doorstep in 2 days. Plus Amazon prices are already great.
1amazon is just easy because i can buy books, dvds, and face wash all at the same time.
2I'd buy from whichever place or site has the best price including shipping and such.
3I would consider using borders' website if it is cheaper than amazon, but I always buy at least $25 worth to get free amazon shipping.
4i buy my books used on amazon marketplace or ebay. but mostly i raid thrift stores and library book sales every year to increase my personal library collection. i have well over 1,000 volumes in my collection and it's growing all the time! but i don't ever pay full price or buy them new.
5i like amazon because u can get used things that are in really great condition
6It's usually about the best deal and where I can find whatever I'm looking for, whether it's music, movies, whatever.
I'm hoping the Borders prices online will be better than they are in stores. And wondering how it will affect my Border's customer card too.
But lately I've been more about just going into the local bookstore.
7Borders' online store in combination with their very frequent coupon deals will be nice.
8I am personally a big fan of Barnes and Noble. Amazon.com, honestly it hurts my eyes. I do like this new streamline bookshelf idea from borders, its neat!
9Sorry to go off on an advertising/marketing tangent. But this brings up the fascinating idea of brand loyalty online.
I surfed by the new Borders website yesterday and I think the experience was nicer than Amazon. But is the experience enough to get people to switch or is it all about price? It's all new territory for retailers in an online marketplace.
I think Borders would be smart to try and offer things that Amazon doesn't. Maybe buy the book and get exclusive access to an online chat with the author...or something like that.
10I got hooked on amazon when the last harry potter book came out. Since then i always browse through to see what new. All though i do go to barnes and nobles to see what on the best selling list.

12i don't tend to buy books online. last year i pre-ordered the seventh harry potter book and still haven't received it (i got my money back though). that was the first and last time i pre order anything.
i love book shops (especially borders) and i think the experience of browsing through a bookstore is far more satisfying than buying online.
13i buy from ABE books (because the listings are usually from independent sellers, who'd i'd rather support than a big corporation like borders).
i guess i won't buy from either amazon OR borders now, since i used to buy from the borders site with my amazon credit card... equaling point-goodness in a two-birds-with-one-stone kind of way, but now that borders has changed its rewards system, and chase raised my amazon card's APR, i doubt i'll be using either service.
14I too am an Amazon.com junkie! I as well subscribe to the Amazon Prime for the free shipping and discounted 2 day shipping.
I'm an Amazon Kindle owner so I have to purchase my books from Amazon. But I don't mind because I LOVE my Kindle and I love Amazon.com!
All-in-all Amazon.com is the best and cheapest option for me.
15I use half.com or ebay. Cant afford to buy new. Plus I like recycling.
16I would probably just go to the actual Borders bookstore, but if I had to buy it online, I would use Borders' site. Especially since I'm a reward member with them
But I love Amazon too - I usually go there for all my other needs
17AMAZON all day baby! I LOVE that site for EVERYTHING!!! They have the best deals.
18Nope, just the best price!
19If Borders has a lower price than Amazon, including shipping, then I'll buy from them. Amazon is pretty hard to beat, though.
20BookDepository.co.uk is the best - really cheap prices and FREE SHIPPING, Royal Mail from UK! I find the shipping is so much quicker than Amazon to Australia - I usually get my books in less than five working days.
21http://www.betterworldbooks.com/ is highly recommended too, with a flat rate for shipping and the money going to a good cause!
22I used to spend sooo much on books because I was reading about 3 a week. Now I belong to the library in both places where I have homes and that is such a big savings. I fill up my requests ahead of time so that when I arrive I have books waiting.
23I am an Amazonian all the way but when I want a book NOW, I usually go to Barnes & Noble. The one near me is much better than the Borders.
24I don't buy books at all. I use a little-known source for free books, audio books, and ebooks. It's called the library. I don't even have to leave my house anymore. I can download digital content right from the library website.
25amazon is usually cheaper
26i like amazon.com because i can find books for as less than a dime!
27I really love Amazon. Does this break with Borders mean they won't have as great of a selection anymore though?
28I usually prefer brick-and-mortar for book shopping, but for online purchases we usually go through Amazon (though I picked "doesn't matter"), as the hubby has an Amazon credit card that gives us our cashback in the form of Amazon credits. So we occasionally get free stuff from Amazon, since we do the put everything on the card and pay it all off each month thing.
29I use Amazon most of the time because I hate to pay for shipping unless I absolutely need something by a certain date.
For an actual bookstore, I prefer Barnes and Noble over Borders, but as long as I get books, I'm not too picky
30i can't use either of those, but for me i always choose chapters/indigo over amazon, because i always go with a canadian company.
31i also use abe books a lot.
32usually half.com
33doesnt matter much to me and I rarely buy books from the new anyhow
