As you know, we were so excited to finally receive our Wii Fit last week. As with any other shiny and new toy, we couldn't wait to take it for a test drive. As you'll see below, a geeksugar test drive turned into a fullblown Sugar HQ Wii Fit party! Oooh feel the burn. . .

Looks like y'all had a great time!
1Lol great video
Looks like a blast!
2Fun! I can't wait for mine to arrive!
3A video game...about...hulahooping? Are we serious? That not only looks like the most ridiculous thing I have possibly ever seen, but why not actually get moving and do a damn hula hoop? And we wonder why American's are so effin fat:) Put down the burger that most will be pounding away at while enjoying their Wii "Fit" and pick up the actual tool that you are pretending to use in the game..or get to a real gym. This should totally not be used as anything more than a game, and to boast it as a fitness tool is just sickening to me.
4Geeze Berlin, angry much? I'm not sure why you're so peeved about the Wii Fit! My BFF's kids, who can't go to the gym are already loving the Wii Fit - even though they won't get theirs until tomorrow. It teaches coordination and balance along with fun. Since their PE classes have been slashed (thanks to the government), this is a good way for the whole family to get in on the fun when it's dark out, or the weather isn't so great to be playing in. Plus, I can see this being great for older folks too. One of the games it offers is yoga- maybe you should try it to chill out.
5Man I am so mad about the mix up with the release date of this game. When i preordered it and basically the whole internet was all like "May 19th" but no I have to wait until tomorrow when I will be busy dealing with an oven repair man. Boo.
6the hula hoop shots are hilarious. can't wait to play along.
7ughh i want a wii fit so bad!! or maybe a wii, period..
lol
8lol funny video
9Dukes...when majority of America is in an obesity epidemic and we're having fitness being run through video games then yeah, that's why I'm "angry" as you say. If we were a fit nation then this would be awesome and a lot of fun, technology is great! But using it as a tool claiming to help with fitness, coming from a personal trainer...not so good.
10Meh, Wii Fit isn't claiming to cure the obesity epidemic. It is, however, offering an option to get moving. Why is that a bad thing? I thought the idea was to get people moving and enjoying it?
11Right on sasseefrass! I would think a personal trainer would be an advocate for anything that gets people up and off the couch! I thought personal trainers were suppose to be motivators, not haters.
PS- check your grammar from up on that high horse.
Whatev- I effin' love it! I forwarded the vid to my bf as a less than subtle birthday present hint
12Getting people moving in a fun way could help people get fitter. DDR has done it...and it is proven in scientific studies. Maybe people will workout at home if uncomfy at a gym...or just have fun with friends/family. The obesity epidemic will not be cured in a day but Wii is great as a start. Thanks for the video. Yeah!
13That looks fun!
14there is no way i'm going to a gym - too expensive and i just don't want to. (i don't like working out in front of others) I walk a lot (for at least an hour recreationally, everyday) - but i'd like a wii fit for EXTRA exercise. This will be used in senior's homes for a fun and easy work out. i really don't think people will not do other exercises. and...why would someone eat a hamburger while 'playing' wii fit? that is truly bizarre.

Not everyone has the luxury of going to the gym or having the time or a safe place to go outside. Exercise video games are a great option. If your kids want to play video games anyways why not make it more interactive for them? Also video games are not all that dumbing. They tend to help hand eye coordination.
I haven't had the opportunity to play Wii Fit yet but definitely have played Wii Sports and it was FUN, INTERACTIVE and GAVE MY ARMS A WORKOUT!!!!
Wii Fit is just another at home exercise tool. Its kind of like the next generation of fitness videos. Buns of Steel anyone? Also if you read Geek's previous post she mentioned how the different "games" actually were challenging and increased her heart rate.
Plus exercise video games have been proven to help people lose weight. Plenty of people have lost weight on Dance Dance Revolution (I actually know someone who has).
Why not get off your high horse and just recognize this as a fun way to get some exercise and hang out at the same time. Not everyone lives the same life as you
16Also I think that before you bash the Wii Fit you should actually do some research into it. It is a lot more than just a game about hula hooping. It has yoga, muscle toning, running, skiing, snowboarding, tight rope walking (where you have to physically jump over obstacles) etc.
Not everyone likes or is motivated to go to the gym or be physical outside like you so why not introduce a tool to help people be physical on their own terms?
17I'm not about to bash the Wii Fit because i'm a techno fiend myself, but a pair of dumbbells and a stability ball is only going to set me back, what, $25? In fact, I could get a better workout by going for a run outside (free) and doing a variety of strength training exercises with no equipment (free)than playing on the fit.
That being said, I'd rather spend the cash on other games - but it still looks like fun!
18Looks like fun!
19Wow! I think this is a fabulous idea. I think with the way kids are facinated with video games it is an opportunity to show them that fitness can be fun. It is a nice way to mesh the two together. Godo job Wii!!!!!
20i want one.
21that looks great! maybe we'll get one
you cannot hula hoop indoors and so this looks
like a great rainy day friend. i'd love to ski or skateboard on this (knee injury prevents the real thing).
if you spend your day in the gym you probably don't need this. but for the rest of the world it sounds like fun.
22I don't have room in my 425 square foot place for a hula hoop, a snow board, a stability ball, or any kind of exercise equipment. I have serious issues with working out in public. And I have a friend who lost 50 pounds with DDR and Wii Boxing so I know it could help me. I don't see how this wouldn't be a great idea for somebody like me. Everybody's story is different. If you're a personal trainer, have room for regular equipment, or like to go outside and run, great. Good on you, and I hope you have lots of fun and stay in shape. If not, that's fine too. The important thing is getting your ass off the couch.
23I just bought mine at Target on my lunch break and can't wait to go home and play! As for all the "controversy," I didn't buy this to lose weight. I just think it looks fun!
24Bwaaaaaa! That looks so fuuuuuuuuuuun!!!
