News.com reported yesterday that tech-savvy Barack Obama has the third-most followers on Twitter (well, the Obama camp anyway) — with almost 32,000! I keep reminding myself to remember to follow more Twitterers and "tweet" more, but I feel like I either don't have enough time or, maybe I just haven't been bitten by the Twitter bug that gives people the urge to microblog their every move and/or follow the every reported move of fellow twits (heh)!
But that doesn't mean I don't like Twitter — I do, in fact, I'm continually impressed with every news story that reports how Twitter kept media and help updated with disasters, like the recent earthquake in China. In any case, I have to know if I'm in the slow lane on this one: Do you twitter (or tweet)?

I signed up a long time ago, but have never really posted anything. It's like the "[your name] is _______", put activity there, on Facebook, and I never know quite how to sum up my day or a highlight and put something there anyway. At least there's more to Facebook than that...but there's really not to Twitter.
1I'm an addict. Everywhere I go, whatever I do, how I'm doing it. I "tweet".
2I love twitter so much. It's one of those things that's ridiculous until you give it a fair chance. One of the key things is to follow a fair amount of people and interact with them. I think of it like group SMS.
Nifty video explaining twitter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddO9idmax0o
3I've been thinking of adding it to my blog.
4Nope, not into it.
5i have an account but i haven't been on in a long while
6yep i do.
7I love twitter, but I find I update less frequently now that more of my coworkers are following me.
8Yes! I love Twitter! ♥ I've been using it since about Jan '07, still going strong
I think what you have to remember about it is that Twitter is basically a very low-pressure approach to blogging - just write whatever you're thinking or doing at the
moment, every tweet doesn't have to be a deep, thought-provoking statement
I think
that's where people sometimes get hung up - they want those 144 characters to represent their day and really, it's all about the moment, I think. In that moment, what is it like for you?
9I never signed up, but wanted to. Then I thought , "will anyone really follow my tweets?" So I never got into it.
10i'm not a twitterbug because i'm not interested in providing stalkers with my minute-by-minute whereabouts. i love technology but i'm not volunteering to just hand over my privacy for the sake of being "cool."
11Wasn't the Teamsugar chatter supposed to be just like Twitter? Until everyone turned it into a chat room?
12Nope. Between here, myspace and sometimes facebook, I just don't have that much free time!
13I never saw the point. Who really cares about what I do during the day? I don't even care about what I do during the day...
14I don't understand it's popularity nor what this article is saying at all.
But I do like the idea of "miro-blogging" or as assignments in college were called "a one page fifteen page paper." Being concise is often a lot more difficult than rambling. It's readability is awesome because you get right to the point. So limiting your current thought or activity to a certain amount of characters -- even the direct messages do this -- is very interesting.
15I signed up but I just can't get into it....I guess my lifes just not that exciting.
16I twitter! I find some of the most interesting links that people share from twitter. And it's fun to see what everyone is up to also.
17I twitter too (but admittedly I'm not as into it as I used to be). In fact, I'm "following" some of the posters from here from the last time we talked about twitter on geeksugar.
It's hard to explain the appeal. I like knowing what my friends are up to even if we don't have the time to see each other for lunch or have those long "so what have you been up to?" phonecalls. It's also just interesting to hear about what other people are doing out there at this very minute. Like Barack Obama, for example. (Note to self: Find out where his twitter may be and follow him.)
18I signed up for it but only used it once. I usually use the Myspace feature if I'm every on myspace XD
19i super dont get it
20I feel like I spend so much of my life on the computer that I don't need twitter to invade my life.
21I used to use Twitter a lot, but I quit. I looooved it! I am a very open and sharing person. If I so much as see a pretty flower, I wanted everyone I knew to see it too. That's where Twinkle, an app for the iPhone came in handy! That's the reason I finally started using Twitter in the first place.
I started spending less time online, though, as I don't feel that internet culture is anymore indicative of who I am or conducive to who I want to be.
I miss it. A lot. Twitter was instantly addictive. I also met a lot of cool people in my area!
22At least 20 of my friends twitter, but we're all in the digital content/webdev industry. It is awesome - like being in constant conversation with all of my friends. I would never blog, but its so easy to twitter. We just twitter about random stuff.
23Always tweeting. Most of my friends use it too. It's by far superior to personal blogging. Most people don't have the time or attention span to read loads of blogs about what people had for dinner or what movie they saw last night. But they still want to keep up with people that they know. Twitter makes it simple, and there's no pressure to write 5 paragraphs.
24I made myself a Twitter account but I rarely update it. Twitter's not really popular in Brazil, I bet none of my friends ever heard of it. So it's only good for online friends, and I don't have many of those.
25Nah...
26i twitter! i have it linked to facebook so it updates my status. i wish more of my friends would use it though... anyone wanna follow me? "follow => doodlegirl"
heehee =D
27Two more things:
First, I just searched for this post by searching for "twitter" in all sites, in all categories, sorted by Newest. This post did not show up in your search at all. The newest one was a post from the 12th. I have yet to have your in-site search actually find the thing I am looking for.
Anyway.
I forgot to mention that I use twitter for Remember The Milk which is an amazing to-do list that allows for twitter and gmail integration. If you have twitter set up for your phone via sms, you can simply text message "rtm" (remember the milk) with tasks and they will add it to your list. That way, I never forget anything even when I'm away from the computer!
I can explain more in detail for anyone who uses remember the milk, but this application alone, has completely turned my organization habits 180 degrees in a good direction!!
28I'd really love to, but I need a smarter phone!
29TidalWave - I have the same problem with the search function. It's irritating. I find it's easier to navigate the sugar sites by using their tags.
30I just signed up!
31TidalWave, I had never heard of Remember the Milk! I just signed up, how clever! Thanks for that tip!
32People use twitter for lots of different things now-a-days. I know some business type people who use it as a message to let people know where they are (I'll be in a meeting until 3pm).
Some people use twitter like a big chat room, like WhiplashGirlchild mentions.
I update my twitter account about once per day, but recently I've really been into some of the smaller sites that work with twitter, like Blip, which lets you post what music you're listening to.
33I loooooooove twitter. But it took some time. Once I setup my cell to text updates everything changed- since I have an iphone it always has a conversation open.
34doodlegirl, just sent you a follow.
35I signed up but no one that I know is really on it. I follow a couple of bloggers but that is about it. I use it when I remember but not into it hard core.
TidalWave - Gonna check out RTM. Thanks!
36I love Twitter! But since I got back from college I don't like to get online as much(Summer is my break from the internet). But if you have the browser Flock you can twitter/flickr/photobucket from a sidebar!
37i never heard of this but it sounds kind of interesting and fun.
38I am addicted. http://twitter.com/playfulpixel
39I am a twitterer!
40@fluffyhelen if you want to add me.
