What if I told you that you could get that $2,000 wedding dress of your dreams for a fraction of the price? Naturally, its been worn once on someone else's most special day and it's coming to you via eBay?
Before you cringe, it should be noted that there is a plethora of gently worn wedding dresses on eBay, including ones designed by Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier, and think about this: When you buy vintage, those pieces have usually been worn over and over and over again, and you still jump at them, whereas a wedding dress has been worn (hopefully) just once. When you consider how overpriced gowns are - because brides will pay the prices - isn't it kind of a blow to the heart of the wedding industry?
Truthfully, I don't know what I'd do, but I have to say: I'd be awfully tempted if I found the perfect dress for half the price on eBay. How do you feel about it? Leave your answer below and be sure to see more wedding coverage on I Do Sugar!

MAYBE. If I completely fell in love with a dress 100% on eBay, I would give it serious consideration.
1Never! Its not that I wouldn't take a hand me down so much as its my wedding and I would want my dress to be mine and nobody elses...before or after...unless my daughter wanted to wear it or use part of it. I would take a dress from my own mom or grandma, but not off EBay.
2Of course. It's just a dress, just another item of clothing.
3Yeah, maybe. Of course I wouldn't tell anyone!
4I have a better question. Would you wear a "brand new tags still on" wedding dress from craig's list!
I don't know how I would feel wearing someone else's misfortune
5Absolutely I would. It's just a dress. I don't know anyone who's worn a relative's dress and it's not like anyone would know.
6Sure! I'm a huge fan of consignment shops and vintage clothing. So what if somebody else wore it? If you love it and can give it a second act than who cares. Wedding and prom dresses usually sit in closets and basements to collect dust. I think it's great to offer something like that to someone else. I would totally do it.
7Yes, I would. I'd actually specifically go out and try to find a cool vintage dress. i'd like to see it in person, though - as you never can tell with online stuff (clothes, especially).
8Sure, why not.
9I absolutely would, and probably would tell people, too. If it's nice and looks amazing on me, why not? It's for ONE DAY!
10Maybe. Probably not, though. Not necessarily because of the "I want it to be mine and mine alone" thing, but more because I'm a little apprehensive about buying clothes online, period. Especially wedding dresses... dresses often look very different on the rack vs on you, and with a wedding dress that'd be even more important. Sizing, as well, I'm nervous about.
11If I'd already tried on my perfect dress and knew exactly what size I needed? Still only a maybe.
Unless I find a major deal my wedding will be so cheap it'll come from Target!
12i wore my mil's dress because it was FREE! i liked it okay and i didn't want to pay for a dress i would wear one time. i don't get the "wedding day-my special day-the most important day of my life" thing. it's dress you wear for a few hours and that's it. honestly if my mil hadn't had a dress i would have bought a used one and wouldn't have cared if anyone knew. what difference does it make?
13I bought mine on eBay! It was a great experience and is practically brand new. It was half the original price. I don't really see the point in spending a ton of money on a dress that will only be worn for a matter of hours. I will likely try to resell mine so someone else can have an awesome dress for a decent price.
14Nope. I'd rather find a less expensive dress, that was still feminine and that still look pretty. I buy used books/dvds/cds but don't like used clothing.
15No; I would want my own, brand new dress.
16Frankly, I'd elope if my fiance was cool with it.
But yeah, I'd be willing to buy a used wedding dress if it was gorgeous and cheap.
My sister paid a local tailor to make her dress. Being a curvy buxom girl, it was a good way to ensure the dress looked good on her, and it was way cheaper than buying off the rack and then altering it.
17MAYBE... depends on how in love I am with the dress and how much I am saving. I think it'd be hard to ensure a proper fit without trying it on... and clothes look different once you put them on.
18I wouldn't. I don't like used clothes and even if it was new I don't think I would buy it on ebay b/c sometimes a lot of things aren't genuine on ebay. If it wasn't real it would not necessarily fit like the real one. I am a big fan of ebay, but I have my limits as to what I will get on there.
19Nope...
20I'm a fan of used clothing, but clothing from eBay is difficult because you can't try it on or check for defects.
21The reasonable side of me says "it's a great way to save money and get more use out of the dress!" My more selfish side says "I want my wedding dress to be only mine!"
I'm an odd shape, and I never buy clothes online. I have to be able to try them on and return them if they don't fit. I have learned the hard way too many times that it never looks the same on you as it does in the picture or on the rack. I would hate for the same thing to happen with my wedding dress. So my selfish side will get the win.
22heck yeah. in a heartbeat. i think it's ridiculous to spend all that money on a dress you wear once. and then i'd turn around and resell it. it could become the sisterhood of the reused wedding dress. or something.
23I only buy used books, never clothes, shoes, handbags, NOTHING. Of course, I think wedding dresses are pretty pricey, so if I found a $500,000 dress for like $5,000 and only worn once, I might take a gander. I'll probably still pass, though. The thought of a used wedding dress comes across as weird...I'd rather wear something simpler and cheaper than used.
24Definitely. I can't believe how expensive wedding gowns are, so why not save a few hundred bucks (or more!) by buying it on ebay?
25I wouldn't buy a used dress on ebay because your wedding day is once in a lifetime. However I have to say I found a great website that will take a picture of any designer dress you want and make it in your size directly from your measurements. I am a plus size girl so often times the dresses I liked wouldn't come in my size. I had my dress made this way and although I was antsy at first because it's online and through the mail with no actual fittings it turned out perfectly and my dress was beautiful at about half price.
26when shopping for my wedding dress I went to the boutiques and was astonished at the prices that brides are expected to pay.
I wandered into my local bcbg store after realizing there was no way I could purchase a brand new gown from any of those boutiques and lucked out with a rare find at bcbg. yeah so it's not a traditional wedding dress but DAMN is it beautiful plus it fits my personality and the location we're getting married.
after the wedding I'll post photos, I'd do it now (as I've had some portraits done) but I don't want to risk the fiance stealing a peek at them. haha (:
27I found my dress on Ebay it was a brand new never worn dress and I got it at a great price, as well as my tiara and veil all brand new never worn.
28I wouldn't buy one, mostly because I'd be worried about the fit, but I am planning on selling my dress one eBay!
Its not like I'm going to wear it again and I'd rather have the cash.
29Absolutely. It's just a dress. I would have bought mine used if I had found one I liked; I ended up designing and making my own.
30i just remembered that i bought a communion dress on ebay. it was new and cost something like $20. the pix was beautiful but the dress in person looked like a nightgown and was totally see through, lol. not a good church look. it didn't work out but was so cheap that i didn't care, the girls use it for wedding dress-up and i bought another $250 dress from nordstrom. i think it was worth a try.
31I think that if you're going to buy off the rack from a place like David's Bridal, where the dresses have been tried on like 20 times before anyway, then you might as well buy it for a fraction of the price off eBay. My dress was bought off the clearance rack of my bridal salon, it was a discontinued sample, and most of them are like a size 12 but this one weirdly was a size 6, it fit perfectly and was half the price of what it would be if I had ordered it before it was discontinued.
32NO WAY!!!I think a wedding dress is special and shouldn't be bought off ebay.
33Yeah, absolutely! If I tried on my dream dress at a boutique store but decided that it was out of my price range, I would definitely see if I could find the same designer gown on e-bay!
34I wanted a J Crew dress that had been discontinued. I bought my dress in my size and and another style J Crew dress that was in the next larger size. In the end, they both fit and I had one beautiful dress for the wedding and another beautiful dress for the reception for less than $100.
35The woman I bought my wedding dress from bought it off the rack, and then found one she liked better. If you can get exactly what you want for a fraction of the price, why not?
I'd have to try it on in a store first before buying it. I don't want to take the risk on my wedding day that it might be wrong!
Then again I want to get married on a beach wearing a bikini so...
36I so wouldn't I have to see something in person before I buy it. So I only buy books & movies online because I don't have to try them on.
37This reminds me my dress from my wedding is in my closet - and I don't know what to do with it! I can't imagine wanting to wearing it for a 25 yr anni and I wouldn't want to pass it on to my daughter... maybe I will put it on eBay!
38def would if it was a dress I had my eye on at a great deal!
