I saw someone on the bus the other day using a matte black RAZR and got nostalgic — my old phone! And then I got lost in my thoughts thinking about all the cell phones I'd loved — my first phone, the huge Nokia 3350, then my "upgrade" to the Nokia 6220 (I was so stoked that it had this newfangled camera phone).

Then on to the black RAZR, and from there I upgraded to smartphones where I've had a BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, and an iPhone. That's six phones in about nine years or so of cell phone ownership! I feel very accomplished, thank you very much. How do you stack up? How many cell phones have you had?

I usually upgrade my phone at least every 2 years, usually once a year. I think the longest I had the same phone was 2 yrs. Don't know when I will upgrade this time though...I love my Blackberry Pearl.
1I only upgrade whenever I lose my old phone...which has only happened once so far... =)
2I miss the StarTAC.
3I remember when my mom got her first cell phone. I think she might have kept it for the memories
4I had a Qualcomm phone (maybe a 2760?) back in high school, and I replaced it with a Samsung SPH-N400. And that's it! That's 8... maybe 9 years, 2 phones.
This is my second phone:

I splurged on it a little because it had a color screen and looked vaguely futuristic.
I'd get a new one but why bother if it works? I'd rather get an internet appliance. Maybe when the iPhones finally come to Canada.
5I usually upgrade every 2 years when contracts are up - but I think I may be sticking with my iPhone for much longer... It's the first phone that has really kept me organized and punctual.
6i said 2-3 but i forgot one, i've had a nokia, 2 audiovox, and my iphone. getting my iphone was a big deal i went from pay as i go to and actual plan.
7a geek! I miss my star Tac too!
8I had two fairly hideous ones. Right now I'm completely content with my chocolate.
9ageek & AutumnLove,
10Lol! My aunt had a starTac! It was the coolest phone, probably ever.
I've had seven...it would be six but I ran over one of my phones in college...
I have the newer LG chocolate phone right now, and it will suit me fine until we can switch carriers and get the iphone!
11Oh gosh, I'm trying to recall them now, I think I started with a Nokia 3210 back in 4th grade then moved on to two more nokia phones, then a Smart Phone, then the flip phone I have now I've had for close to 4 years.
12I just got my first phone in February 2007. It's a RAZR. I would of gotten some other phone which I don't like but my Grandma knew I really really really wanted a RAZR. I'm quite content with it actually.
13Geez, my first must have been in 96!
14Im way over 10 phones, not including the 2 that my job has for me.
Probably 5. My first being this HUGE nokia which has a bright yellow look to it. God, I had hideous taste. But it suited my excentric personality (and we're talking middle school here...). Haha, those were the times.
Now I own an LG shine and I want to get either an iphone or an LG voyager.
15Geez. I want to say 4-5, but it might be more!
16My very first phone was one where you could only call, I think I was a Ringo with an antenna then I had a 3315 then I got a 6220 then I bought a 6600 over a 3650 and then I remember getting a 5300 before I got myself a Blackberry and I'm getting an iPhone once the 3G models come out..
17Like 7 I think? Maybe more?
18my first phone was in 2000.
i think i've owned 14/15 cell phones since then.
a few years ago i was obsessed and was getting a new one every few months.
now i'm calmer and tend to upgrade around once a year.
194-5. my latest is the Sony Ericsson w580i =] and i love it
207, it would probably be more if I wasn't insistent on being able to sync my phone to my Mac. I haven't had a phone that didn't sync to my computer since 2002 I think! I had my Treo 650 for 2.5 years, which was waaaaay too long. I'm in love with my iPhone and look forward to June (hopefully) to get an upgraded one
21I've owned about 4. None of them were strictly mine until my newest one which I got last year, September (I'm 17 in case you're wondering why my cell phone record sucks so much xD;;). The phone I have right now is a Sony Ericsson w580. The grey one. I'd be pretty satisfied with it if it weren't for the fact that it kinda messed up on me in the second week of owning it. It doesn't read memory cards very well so it kinda defeats its purpose of being advertised as a music phone.
But just wait till I get a job (lol, I'm so sad). When I do...kekeke...I'll have a whole plethora of phone!
22I just got my third cellphone. I don't like upgrading phones because it's troublesome, so I held out for over a year after my last one was starting to fall apart because it seemed like the phone industry here was on the verge of producing one with the features I wanted. Namely, a full alphanumeric keyboard. They've been common in other countries for a while but not in Japan, and the few that were available were import models that just weren't going to work well here. Last month Vodafone finally released a keyboard model made for the Japanese market and I got it right away. Love it! Gorgeous big screen, bilingual interface, built-in J/E dictionaries so I can leave the big one at home, and it's also a TV.
23I had a Motorola V600, then I had a black RAZR, then finally I have a Razr2 v9. I really like it :3
My fiance has a LG Voyager. He's had that and a LX98000.
24my first phone was the nokia one that everyone and their mother had and it could change faceplates. maybe it just seemed like everyone had it to me... i upgrade every couple of years. I have an iphone now and i don't plan on getting another phone any time soon.
25oh yeah, i'm on #6
26I'm on my 7th, but one I left on an airplane, one I left at a party, and one vanished into thin air.
Thank God I always have the insurance plan!
27Two in three years. I upgraded when my contract ended, and plan to do so again next year. I don't have a problem with losing or breaking cell phones (so far so good) and I don't care how out-dated my model is.
28I've had quite a few phones. I had a really crappy massive phone back in Jr high/high school for when I stayed after school and needed to let my mom know when to pick me up. Then I got a small cute phone from T-mobile for my first real phone. Then 2 yrs later we switched to Sprint and I got my first camera phone. Then another 2 yrs later we switched to Verizon and I got the original enV phone, which I killed. So I replaced it with the newer model of the enV at the time, which I also killed. Then I had my dad's Razor for a couple months. Then just recently my 2 yrs were up so I could get a new phone and I now have the new enV2, which I really like and hopefully won't kill. So all in all, I've had .. 7 phones. =D
29im back to my #3 because #5 broke and i'm just waiting for #6 to be released onto the market =D
30I used to like upgrading my phones. But I realise it was purely cosmetic. So now I try to stick with my present phone for as long as possible. Also you can get better value for money.
31Three years of cell phone ownership, one phone. Regular little Motorola. Does it's job. I don't plan on replacing it.
32Wow, that's a lot of phones!!
Hopefully all of you are donating or recycling them!
I REALLY don't want to be a environmentalist drill sergeant, but that's a lot of old technology we're throwing away..
Consumption is a scary thing.
333 so far. I have a Motorola Krazr now but I'm lusting after the LG EN-V.
34my parents got me a motorola T720 when i was in 7th grade i think it sucked because i went to the store and my mom was on her phone which was a year old so theyre like oh we have that same phone one left and i was like great i cant get a new phone then i got a samsung one that flips to ways in october i think which was stolen out of my moms car so now i have a blackberry pearl i got one in february but then over spring break my dad washed it in my jeans and so i got a replacement i puut 2-3 but its really 4 cause one got washed 4 and im only 15
35A grand total of 8, and my contract is up again next week...so I plan on getting my 9th then.
36At least a dozen...
37currently have Sony Ericsson w880i. I'm going to stick with it until the day they buy me the sleek blackberry.
38I had a Qualcomm phone in high school and when I was 19, I got the Nokia 6800 for the flip out qwerty keyboard. When that broke less than a year later, I "splurged" and got the Motorola V600 (which I bought outright and cost me $400). When I got tired of that (and Cingular) two years later, I got the Sidekick 3. And now, I'm almost at two years with the SK3 (and I love it other than it's bulkiness), but I've been idolizing the Motorola A1200 (akak Motorola Ming) for a year now. It's supposed to have come out in Q2 of this year, but so far, no one has an word on where I can get it through a carrier. Looks like I'm buying an unlocked version online...
39I've had my current phone for over 2 years now! It's lasted through tons of drops and baby drool and doggy drool, but the darn thing still works.
40I think I've had 8. My first cellphone ever was the huge Motorola brick.
41My first cell phone my man and I shared in like 2001 I dont remember what it was called I think it was with US Cellular. Then I had a Nextel i730 then an upgrade to a Nextel i860 which I LOVED TO DEATH. I dropped nextel because they frankly didn't work well when I moved from Illinois to Tennessee so I got Cingular and I had a Motorola L6 which wasnt so bad I sold that to my uncle when my man got me a Samsung D807...slider phones are so awesome...until I got tired of that and he bought me a Samsung A707 Sync in Red which I really did think was an amazing phone but AT&T started to get too expensive so now I have Sprint...their customer service is terrible but I love their phones. First I had a Sanyo Katana DLX in Champagne but my dad is having heart issues so I sent that to him and got myself a new line and got the black and blue LG Rumor which I love!!! I want a palm treo (not the centro...blech!) but I think I will wait until I am actually eligible to upgrade this time. I work for an AT&T call center and I know a lot about phones and really wish AT&T wasn't so expensive cause I would love to get the Pantech Duo...whatever Sprint has better prices...
42i have only had 3 cell phones but that has a lot to do with my avoiding them for so long. i didn't want to get stuck with the ridiculous phone bills my friends often complained about. now, i'm addicted although still slow to purchase new toys. i'm holding out for the supped up iphone this summer.
43awww.... this is making me nostalgic!
44nokia 2260, Audiovox 8600, LG VX6000, Sony Ericsson Z520, Palm Treo 650, Palm treo 700p, blackberry pearl, blackberry curve!
8.
But then again, I've had a cell for 12 years! (damn- I feel old.)
45I upgrade all the time. I haven't had my N95 for a year yet, ans I'm waiting for the N96 to come out. It's a never ending cycle.
46I used to love my StarTac too...it made me feel all grown up! haha I've had more than 5...usually because i would lose them all the time! I've had the last one for almost 2 yrs and love it so far...thinking of getting an iPhone but not sure because everyone has it or wants it...
47I've had 6 so far... Motorola StarTac, the classic Nokia that everyone had, the Nokia with the angular buttons, an Audiovox flip camera phone, some other Nokia flip phone and now an LG8600.
48I think I have lost count. I got my first cell phone in 1992, the stylish gray Motorola flip. (Was it the StarTac? I can't remember.) Then I think another Motorola, a couple of Nokias, a Razr, and I got the new Sidekick LX the day it came out last fall. (Bigger keypad than a Crackberry!)
49There have been times that I've had 3-4 active cell phones at one time. After spending several years working in the wireless industry, I've owned over 50 phones. Just call me a gadget wh*re!
