I've been a little bit hesitant to write about the Wii Fit Stripper Pole game because I'm a little conflicted. But since it appears that it's going to happen, here we go! A Stripper Pole game disturbs me a little, but since it's part of Wii Fit, I think of it as the same level as those stripping exercise classes that popped up a few years ago and seemed cheeky and fun. It's also a fun, hopefully private (close those shades) way to work out and explore a fantasy, so what's the harm, right?

On the other hand, with the release of GTA IV and its supply of hookers once again, I'm leery of the intent here and I can get in that place of worrying about where the video game industry is placing their female fans. How do you feel about a stripper pole game?

It doesn't really bother me at all. Strip classes have been popular in gyms for a while now, so it sort of makes sense that they would try it.
I have a hard time thinking of things that women do themselves as sexist. If it was a man making a woman do something, or saying something horrible, then it's sexist. I know plenty of women that would buy this game.
1Little of both. I can see where it would be fun and sexy and maybe even boost my confidence, but it's also not something that I'd want to do in front of my kids or my parents.
2It'd be fun for adults but completely inappropriate for kids.
3Little for both! But I would probably buy it LOL!
4Thank you Bloody FooFoo! It's just like the "Slide to Unlock" t-shirt: it's racy, it's a little raunchy, but it's not sexist. Especially if it's a woman choosing what to wear/play/say/do.
For a LOT of people, degrading = sexy. But I don't think that being a stripper (of either gender) is necessarily degrading; some people find it empowering.
I agree that I wouldn't want my kids playing that, but it sounds like it could be a really fun game for men and women alike, especially with a few beers.
5I'm just wondering how this is suppose to work....
6maybe you'll have to purchase a wireless pole... or something
pinkmystic, I was thinking the exact same thing. How would they work that?
7Looks fun.
8Looks fun, but it is not something I would do in front of others.
9Yeah, I was wondering that too, pinkymystic... otherwise it sounds totally fun, I'd love to play it. And like BloodyFuFu said--it's not really sexist/degrading if women choose to play it.
10i totally love to dance and my best friend almost bought me the pole dancing kit for my birthday; but couldnt afford it. but its definitely ive wanted to try. i mean, carmen electras aerobic striptease videos are fun; but pole dancing would be fun too!
11i can't imagine what that would look like and how it would function. i'm all for a little stripper-fantasy fun but i can't see how a game is better than just installing a pole in the house for a real "workout!" don't think it's degrading though. have you been to a dance club lately? all of them have stripper poles and the ladies are on them all night.
12I think its great. Being a pole-r myself, you have me excited.
But I doubt very seriously that it will replace my X-pole.
13It's funny you don't see any games out there like that for men. It's just us women entertaining our husbands like their own sex toy. I love video games but this one I wouldn't buy if someone payed my a billion dollars.
14Actually, LuxuryAddict, there are lots of adult-oriented games for men. There have been porn games geared towards men for a decade now.
15@luxury: What do you mean "for men"? Agreeing with evildork, there are tons of games geared towards men and, in general, video games is a male-dominated industry. Examples: Leisure Suit Larry and Grand Theft Auto
16No clue about the details but also no clue how this would be conceived as degrading or sexist either.
17EvilDorkGirl, yea I have seen them. But what I mean is games for men to learn how to entertain their wife. Yea the video game industry is geared towards men but I'm just saying that it's sad that their is a game out there like that.
18@luxury: OH you mean a cooking game for men!
19Tidal Wive, Yea a how to cook for your wife game that's what I meant.
Stuff like
that.
20A little of both but I'm not really offended.
21Degrading? Nah... I think sounds kind of fun. How will it even work though? lol
22I live in Nebraska (very conservative) So we don't have things like stripper classes. So this would be a fun way to live out a fantasy, and learn some moves that my husband would definitely love!
23GODDAMN. I swear I had the idea to make a Wii stripping game a few months ago...Guess someone beat me to it xD;;
24more than a little degrading--a lot degrading and a lot stupid. plus how would it work? would you twirl the wiimote? miis don't even have boobs!
25Um, not degrading. Women make their own choices. But I think it's a royally stupid idea. I can't see it coming with a pole, but if it does, there is something really wrong with a game that has you interacting in a sexual way. Blech.
26There is a difference between strippers and pole dancers. Some strippers are also pole dancers. But go to a pole dance/fitness competition, and there is no stripping. Pole fitness is about strength and skill and control of your body. I take pole classes twice a week, and I dont see giving that up for a wii game.
27"Stripper poles" are thick metal poles running through the ceiling and floor. In other words, they're sturdy. This is unsafe. What's next, the pole vault?
28Is that Demi Moore?
29Yes, she was in a movie some years ago about a stripper, and it had Burt Reynolds in it but I forget the name.
30I've heard pole dancing is quite the workout, I'd be down to try it. And what better way than in the comfort of your own home!?!?
31Rabidmoon - Striptease is the movie nver saw it so don't know if it sucks.
I don't have kids nor am I around any to influence, but I would like to play it I'm sure the fiance wouldn't mind ; )
I picked both because I think it is fun and empowering for women and on the other hand I think men will always profit from women's sexuality so it is degrading in that sense. Yet, I am grown and can make my own decisions, but I fear for the little "girls" (13 going on 30) who conned their parents into giving them $ for a game that they have no idea what it's about.
Sugar can you find out if there is a pole to purchase or how this game is going to be played.
Who says men won't play this game for their girls/guys especially with a few beers like said above. This is going ot be a new college party hit.
32As soon as they make some men stripping I won't be so easily irritated about the concept.
But why a video game? Its cheaper for guys to have a night on the town and watch girls get paid to do it.
