Oh, the evolving humor of today's youth: Youngsters have apparently taken to freaking out their friends and classmates by pretending to be online predators! Nine cases in Cornwall were investigated where police suspected that pedophiles on social networking sites like Bebo and MSN were actually fellow classmates of kids who weren't getting along — all around age 10.
This is really par for the course in a time when we're seeing and questioning online bullying — though these cases weren't taken as far as the Megan Meier case or the Kristin Helms case, can we really be surprised that these young kids see new possibilities to tease and torture each other with the Internet?

That's absolutely disgusting.
Besides, I think that these kids are too young for internet access. In my house, we bought our first computer when I was about 13, and I'm glad of that.

3It is a little crazy how 10 year olds are social networking online. I usually poke fun at the 'dangers' of the internet, because it is what it leads to in the real world that is the danger... but ultimately I am a huge advocate of keeping your child, once they are say 13 and wanting to go on these sites, in a common area so you can see what they're saying and doing. Make them give you access to see their myspace, so you can make sure they aren't doing anything online you wouldn't want... I know people say it is overprotective, but the myspaces I have seen for little kids have been terrifying...

must not understand the severity of those jokes, considering how young they are.
Also, I'd be reluctant to let my kid use MSN and things like that at that age, anyway.

9I really loathe bullying of any kind. It truly upsets me when I see people doing it - even kids.
And as far as this goes - what the hell is wrong with people?? Why are 9 and 10 year olds social networking online???? I bet the parents aren't even aware of it... sickening.
