i love film cameras. they have something that digital images just dont have.

my boyfriend just got me a holga not too long ago -- i got the one that is teal and yellow! it is so fun...plus they leak light so you can tape em up and mod them so they get lots of different effects!

I just bought a nice digital slr...so I'd feel silly spending the money on ANOTHER camera...but I've wanted a Diana for so long.

The pictures are just so ethereal...I love them.

What's with wanting a plastic camera??? The weight of a Pentax or similar film camera is 50% of the point. The other 50% is, of course, the picture quality. There is no room for plastic. If you're not convinced I think Fisher Price still makes film cameras but the only downside is that you can't get them at (subUrban Outfitters!

I got a diana for christmas (unfortunately mine is not mint green). I took some photos while in Florida a few weekends ago and recently dropped them off at the photo store. I'm anxiously awaiting the call to pick them up to see how they turned out.

One thing I would recommend when you purchase 120 film for your dinana is to purchase vivid color film so that your photos pop just a little more. Fuji Velvia 100NC 12MM Color Slide Film is very nice for high color contrast shots, however Velvia is slide film so make sure to ask for prints. One cool trick, if your photo developing location can do this, is to cross process your slide film so that there is a color shift to your prints, blue or green depending on the slide flim you use, gives you a really cool surreal look to the shots. An alternative vivid film that is not slide film is Kodak Portra 400NC 120mm Color Print Film which I've used several times, very warm bright colors from those prints.

I still love my old-school Pentax K1000. Very basic, but produces gorgeous photos and is affordable and simple to operate.

The K100 hit the market right around the time I was born but was my first real camera in college when I studied art and photography. I still have it -- it's very difficult to break.

It has such a satisfying weight while held.

I am a simple girl. I love my little obsolete picture-box.

I love film cameras. There's something about that tangibility and not knowing how the film is going to develop that makes them so appealing.

I've been a fan of my Holga for years, even though I'm a professional photographer and like the sturdy weight of "real" cameras - still, that $20 plastic thing gave me so many good surprises, I always take it with me!

Keep in mind that it's not 35mm film but medium format - it's slightly more expensive, and finding labs that process it can be tricky in some areas; but the cool things about it are so many, it's totally worth it! First, it can make square photos... just THAT is awesome.

You should also visit http://www.lomography.com, for a whole world of amazing plastic cameras. They have the Diana, the Holga, and many more. I'm sure lots of you will enjoy learning about them, and maybe buying them (they're really cheap) and having years of fun with them. And some of you may even learn to stash that "fierce contempt" away...

as far as I can tell there isn't a difference between the diana+ and the diana+dreamer, it was just repackaged for uo and colored mint green. I could be wrong but I can't imagine they can do much more with a plastic camera.

I own many cameras: two digital slrs, four digital point and shoots(!), antiques, a holga, three different lomo cameras, and several 35mms. I love them all, but I do have a lot of fun with my holga and lomo cameras. They're fun. My SLRs are amazing for when I want to do serious photography but I love taking my photos to a new level, and I like to do that with the holga and lomo cameras. They're really cheap and you can get some great pictures out of those. I have an entire wall of lomo photographs and it's my favorite. The Diana Dreamer is just to die for. I love the color. I don't think I'll buy it just because I already have so many cameras, but I think a lot of people will enjoy owning one.
