Rolling on with the Sex and the City tech coverage and the possibility of new iMacs this week, I had to wonder (!): What computer will Carrie be using in the movie? The film picks up four years later after the end of the TV show, so she could still be using her vintage PowerBook G3, since she went to great lengths to rescue it, and the fact that she was not the most tech-savvy person in the world.
On the other hand, it may have stopped ticking by then, and she might be turned on by a new MacBook (especially since it looks the most like her original machine in black), she may have heard that the hot Air was the gadget equivalent of her, and maybe her geek BFF Miranda taught her to go with the MacBook Pro. (Spoiler alert! I think it can be seen in one of the trailers.) What do you think she should use?

Well I'd buy a MacBook Pro. I'm so fed up of my old iBook. And I don't find the new MacBook Air that interesting.
1I really don't think Carrie would have upgraded as far as an Air, and, since she's probably only using a computer for word processing and minimal e-mailing, there's no need for her to have a Pro. Seeing as it's four years later, her PowerBook has probably died, so I'm going for the MacBook in black.
2Traditionally, I think she should just go with the macbook in black to keep to her style. Black goes with everything

4I'm more befuddled at the fact that the Apple logo is upside down in that photo. Is she the bizarro-world/evil twin version?
I hope so because today's films and shows have a huge deficit on evil dopplegangers, especially with upside down Apple logos on their laptops (Like the upside down cross of olde).
5I must say...MacBook Pro. I can see Carrie being persuaded to get the upgraded Mac. As for the air...because she's an old fashioned girl, probably not.

9The BlackBook, because I can't imagine her using all the bells and whistles on the Pro, and the Air is lacking in just about everything a person with no desktop computer needs.

11Sheep thing? I bet 85-90% of the world has a PC, not a Mac. The only people I know that have Macs are other designers.

By the way, I'm not trying to assault macs or mac-users. I seriously would think that the the entire 24-35 demographic used/owned a mac and an ipod and an iphone with the coverage it gets on this site.
But some of your comments here spurred me to do a little research and I was surprised that usage is still relatively low especially in the demographic of sugar users (Gateway, surprisingly, is the best with our demo). I seriously just thought that the coverage on here would coincide with the market and I have been proven wrong.
Hopefully no one takes offense to these comments, that's really not my intention.

My boyfriend's step dad is really against Macs too, so you're not alone Syako. He makes fun of our Mac family every time he comes over, and we just laugh it off. I just don't get why everyone has to hate on Macs simply because they've gotten more popular! Has it ever occurred to you that maybe people just like them more?

22syako...It's not the computer that is the issue. It's the OS. I personally love my mac. I worked at a computer tech for 3 years (am an engineer now) and developed preferences after having to work with everything. Linux is fun sometimes but OSX really gets everything done with little BS for me.
