@big dork: actually, no, the connectors also come in various categories (I use to sell telecommunication wire and all the goodies that go with it!). The one shown states Cat 5.

Ok if you guys want to debate technical accuracy. Cat 5 - 4 pair (8 strand) communications cable Cat 5e - same as Cat 5 but the pairs are glued together to maintain proper twist (helps prevent data bleed over) Cat 6 - same as Cat 5e plus is wrapped in foil to shield from outside interference. The connectors are know as "RJ45" connectors.
