Ah, George Costanza. He was a different breed. Behold, the video below: George screens his messages while watching TV, and grooves to a sweet little ditty he recorded himself for when he was out — listen to it and try not to get his "Believe It or Not" stuck in your head. Meanwhile, I have to claim guilt for recording some silly voicemail message, but uh, back in the day, of course! My messages are so boring now. But have you ever recorded a funny voicemail message? Are you rocking one right now?

When I was in high school, I found a website of goofy voicemail messages and put some of those on my home answering machine. I remember the ripoff of "Da Da Da" being really funny.
1i had a few in college that my friends and i thought were hilarious! however, not funny when professors or employers were calling so i always had to change them
2I've done this very message. But when work called, and actual companies... Oh embarrassment. So now it's just a, "Oh, hello. I didn't see you there. Well, nobody can get to the phone right now, but if you want to leave a message... yada yada yada..." Lately, I've been feeling like upping the odd factor though.
3I've used a few, but nothing really inappropriate. My favorite was a Douglas Adams "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" themed one.
4I admit to once faking an automated answering service on my answering machine. "Press 1 to leave a message for blah. Press 2 to leave a message for blah. Or stay on the line to leave a message for everyone." Often my messages would have the sound of someone pressing the keys on their phone.
5My father would let my brother, sister and I record the message when we were little - like, really little. He would encourage us to do really wacky sound effects or come up with themes, like a barnyard. We would moo and oink in the background while someone said "the (lastname) animals are not home right now...".
6the audio to this clip is actually my cell phone ring tone right now.
7This is one of my all-time favorite Seinfeld moments. My favorite funny voicemail recently was when a friend of mine met a Spanish-language sports announcer at a bar and had him record a message that involved the word "GOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!"
8I love doing the phone service/office voicemail because everybody pushes a button, even I do!
Nancita, my mother had my step-dad do "Let's get ready to rumble" from wrestling when they were very into it. Hilarious!
9I haven't but I have a friend I like to call just to hear her new voicemail message every couple weeks. Once she even sang her own rendition of Saved by the Bell's "future dream garage band song" ....Friend's Forever.... you know which one I'm talking about! I was on the floor laughing.
10Nope, have always done the standard. I know, boring!
11I did this in hs but now I would rather keep my phone professional.
12yes I have recorded some funny ones. Once I had a British accent, another time I left a message with an R Kelly song " Call for my body" And of course my dad would call me every time I had a sexy message on my phone. HA.
13I have one on my cell phone, but it's not as fancy and singing songs and stuff. It starts off with "hello (pause, to let the person start talking like I am actually there, haha) hey, I'm not here right now, so leave me a message and i'll get back to you later." something like that.
p*sses my mom and my friends off all the time! but super hilarious that it gets them every time they call.
14I once worked as a Telemarketer, and listened to a lot of answering machines. My favourite one to this day is the man singing "I am not home" Over and over again to the tune of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. It was priceless.
15Yes I have. I've got two on standby right now while the machine plays the standard computer message. My wacky two messages are captured from things I love- Invader Zim and The Matrix.
From Invader Zim, I have Gir talking and saying how much he LOVES the Piggy - then the computer yells PROCESSING and Zim says Delicious Doom!
The other always tricks people into to talking - it's Neo (Thomas Anderson) answering Morpheus first phone call, when Morpheus tries to tell him that he's special. Neo says "Hello." Then there's a terrific pause then after about 10 seconds - where people calling my phone start talking to Neo thinking it's a real person- Morpheus starts talking and saying something like "if you want to live do as I say" Then the Beep.
I've had telemarketers and friends just start cursing a blue streak because they weren't paying attention then they heard the beep midway through their spiel.
It's HI-larious. With the Invader Zim and Gir one people tend to hang up then callback then they start leaving a message through their confusion and laughter.
16That's one of my favorite memories of Seinfeld!!!!!!!!!!! Hahaha. I used to make silly voicemails in high school with songs or odd noises, but now that I am applying for jobs I gotta keep it professional haha.
17My college roommate of 4 years and I tried to record a message where we alternated lines and then said the "goodbye" part in unison. We tried several times, but roomie always missed her cue, and we gave up at a message in which we just couldn't stop laughing. It ended up being everyone's favorite memory of us living together...calling us and getting our voicemail. We had numerous messages left begging us never to change it...and we didn't throughout all 4 years!
This, admittedly, was after we tried several times to record our take on N'Sync's "Gone", and failed miserably.
18No, I have a boring message; just the usual "i'm not here right now however I'll get back to you as soon as I can... blah blah blah..lol.
19i love Logan's different daily messages (and Veronica's rolled eyes when she hears them) on Veronica Mars! George's message is so classic!!!
i do not have anything special on my voicemail - something boring my roommie recorded. for the longest time we just left on the automated one but everyone left messages asking if they had the right number.
20Man I hate Seinfield,I don't know why,It just bugs the hell outta me..haha
21I am even more boring than that. I let my carrier's voicemail use my phone number rather than recording anything.
I have a friend that does CRAZY voice messages, like kidnapped elves at Christmas. He's also that annoying guy that will answer the phone with things like: "Binky's House of Blankets, how can we cover you today?
22i have one on my phone its of harold and kumar and a bush impersonator if you want to hear it call 3014527516 (although i know thats a little crazy!) and if i answer just say you want to hear the message
23I have this as one of my ringtones lmao.
