I'm always surprised when people say they dislike earbuds, as a few people mentioned when I posted those Altec Lansing Swarovski-encrusted earbuds the other day — I guess because I'm so used to them and prefer something small that I can throw in my already-overloaded handbag. I wouldn't mind sporting these adorable Audiocubes striped headphones, though, but it would be a big departure for me as an everyday thing.
There's lots of pros and cons for each — earbuds are small and unobtrusive, but can be uncomfortable and the sound quality isn't always optimum, whereas headphones, with the ability for superior sound quality, can be bulky and make you look like a goof. So which do you prefer?

Marks and Spencer
Missoni
Fendi
If there's nobody around to be disturbed nothing beats speakers
1I was making fun of my boyfriends father this Easter because he has the most bulky, awful, headphones you will ever see.
2Earbuds but I would get headphones for flights and other areas where people my be disturbed, so it wouldn't make so much noise.
3ear buds!
4I guess it just depends on where you are or where your going for the day.
5If I'm at home, I try to use headphones for comfort. But sometimes, if my family is watching TV and I'm trying to hear something on the computer, I'll use the earphones.
If I was out and about, I'd use earphones too.
So, I use both!
6Earbuds in public, headphones at home. Problem solved
7I prefer earbuds.
8Headphones whenever possible. Earbuds are always too big for my ears and hurt after a little while!
9I like the idea of earbuds, but even the tiniest earbud on the bose are still too big for my ears and end up popping out when I'm on the treadmill, elliptical, etc. This is frustrating because I love how they take up little room, etc. Any suggestions out there?
10headphones. i have four different pair of earbuds and they are just so awkward in my ear. i wish i could get some custom earbuds made that are especially for me. i think my ear canals are really small bc they're always coming out and pushing against my ears making them hurt after a while.
11No earbuds I have tried fit my ear shape...so the winner is headphones!! Plus they don't fall out if you jump around heaps/run etc...
12i prefer earbuds. my favorite are from skullcandy. very comfortable and blocks outside while delivering great sound quality!
13Earbuds, id like to think are more discreet and easy to pack.
14Headphones. My ears don't support the earbuds.
15Those striped headphones are sweet.
16I really like the ones that wrap around the back of your neck.
That way you can be discreet about it when you're out and about.
Longer hair will completely hide them.
Earbuds just pop out of my ears.
Personally I don't wear either. I have discovered I loses some hearing every time I listen to music on headphones.
17So I listen to music on the speakers by my computer.
ahhhhhhhh, i LOVE my Bose headphones. They were so worth the money because I use them ALL the time. They block out noise (and these aren't even the noise-canceling ones), and are SO light and comfy.
But, Bose has earbuds now... I'm curious to try them but I don't want to spend the money on them.
18I use earbuds when I'm out and about because of the size and such, even though my ears tend to be too small. But headphones are the best. The sound quality is so much better...so I use those whenever I can.
19I have a great pair of earphones that have a slot for an iPod shuffle. I use it to work out and it's WONDERFUL!
20Earbuds for when I'm at school and out but Headphones have the best sound so I use them when I'm at home..
21Earbuds don't fit my ears, how many others have this trouble? I would use them is they fit.
So I like headphones.
22Earbuds...
23Headphones are just too big and bulky for me.
Earbuds, they don't mess up my hair.
24I like earbuds. Headphones are to big.
25headphones... earbuds are uncomfy and they fall out
26I prefer headphones for comfort and sound quality, but usually earbuds are just easier. I have a set of Sony earbuds that I'm alright with, they actually fit my ears better than the Bose in-ears.
27I worked in radio for a loooooooooooooong time (too long if you ask me, but that's a different story) so I'm 100% a headphones kind of gal. When I put my ear buds in, they don't feel secure enough and the sound quality is only ok. If I could get my fancy radio headphones to work in my iPod I would, but I can't...sigh.
28Headphones for sure...
29I can't wear earbuds. They fall out every time I move my head.
30Wow- I'm so glad I'm not the only one with tiny ears! I WISH I could wear earbuds because they're so easy to toss into my purse, but they pop out and hurt my ears a lot. So headphones for me.
There seriously needs to be a solution for that. They must make smaller ones or something, right?
31Headphones all the way!
32outside i use my ipod buds...i've got big ol headphones at home.
33headphones are better for your ears-ear buds damage your hearing easily.
34I'm not sure what's the difference. I have ones that are hardcore and squishy and go in my ear and others that loop over my ear and into my arches. Also for piano I have the big ugly ones that make me look like a dork.
35In class and grocery shopping, its earbuds;
36but when I'm just hanging around
or making a fashion statement,
headphones for sure.

Clip-on JVC HA-E130 headphones. Super cheap and better sound than any earbuds I've ever used.
Earbuds hurt, too.
38I use headphones for a few reasons.
I ride the bus every day, and usually I find that earbuds have a lot of noise spillover - that is, I can really easily hear what people with earbuds are listening to. For some reason, the "spillover" from other people's headphones gives me headaches. I don't want people to be forced to listen to what I'm listening to, and I don't want to hear other people's music - so I have headphones similar to the ones pictured (but they're black, and from Sony).
I also live in a city that has a long winter. I've found that with earbuds, the cords have a tendency to stiffen up in nasty weather, and then the earbuds will fall out of my ears. Headphones also have a bonus perk of acting as earmuffs.
39headphones. earbuds don't fit my ears properly, and they become painful after awhile.
40i would say inner ear earphones like canalphones from gadgetronx. gadgetronx earphones block out background sound for flying on airplanes or riding in trains, or just daily commutes like public transportation - bus rides, walking, etc.
41they sound good and provide rumbling bass and clear sound like traditional headphones, but the advantage is that they cost way less.
headphones [the kind that go all the way around your ear] for airplanes and road trips on buses, and earphones for pretty much everything else. The reason being around-ear headphones are naturally noise-canceling, which helps against the loud engine sounds, crying babies, etc. and the sounds of other people talking on buses. On the way to school, I use earbuds, and on airplane trips, I usually purchase some decent quality headphones at an airport store, like brookstone.
42I currently rock a set of Quindici Earbud Earphones. They're a little more expensive at $50.99 for the pair, but the sound quality is PHENOMINAL. clean, punchy, deep bass without muddying the mids. the highs are crisp, clear, and not in the least bit harsh or tinny. you can get them on gadgetronx.com
43I use clip ons, pretty much an alternative to both. With earbuds, my ears start to hurt, but with headphones, I find them too big and I don't like the ones that go around the back of my neck. So clip ons it is.
44I'm a big fan of headphones. Both my ears have like this little notch right where the top of the earbud would fit, so it doesn't line up properly. It hurts too. I like headphones because they are comfortable, they don't have music spillover, they are warm, and they have much better quality. I'd use ear buds if i had to, such as on a bus or train or something.
45I prefer headphones. Earbuds no matter what like everyone else constantly pop out right after they just get comfy in my ear and I have to stop everything to adjust for comfort, and it looks like u r picking ur ear (gross LOL). If u r looking for comfort and personal, fun, trendy, public worthy headphones I recommend going to Ifrogz.com and customizing your own pair I love mine and wear them everywhere, even with pink fuzzy ear pieces.
