A group of internet well-doers have started an experiment I know I couldn't be a part of: Shutdown Day.
We all know life is more difficult without computers. But if they disappeared for just one day, would we be able to cope? The inventors are calling the effort one of the "biggest global experiments ever to take place on the internet" and are asking people around the globe to commit to turning their computers off for a day.
Luckily, the day they picked, March 24, happens to be a Saturday this year, so the percentage of people at their computers all day will be down slightly. The idea behind the experiment is to find out how many people can go without a computer for one whole day, and what will happen if a huge crowd participates. Can you survive for 24 hours without your computer? I know I can't!

haha my boyfriend is a comp sci major/ programmer extrordinair, I doubt I could ever get him to do this.

It's a very worthy experiment. I'm going to spread the word. Plus - it will be very insightful toward my sense of self as well... how much is tied to my computer?
4See for me...I know i can be without my laptop for a day. I have before for various reasons. But honestly, why would i turn it off just cause someone created a day to see who would. And comon we all know that the majority of the people out there who actually know about this are thinknig the same thing. Plus its not like anyone would really know who did or didnt use thier pcs.
Didnt they have the same type of day with tv...yeah how many people do u think actually complied with that day. Im not going to inconvience myself. Its not like its actually a recorded experiment or anything...if so that would be a bit different.
5I'll do it! I have to work most of that day anyway and I can do my paperwork on Sunday or Monday. No biggy.
6im sure i could do it if i had better things to do. i'll make plans to go out all day. im sure it wouldnt be too difficul

Wow! If you're able to find the results from that I would like to know but I won't be one of the ones that participates. I think I'm working that day and that means COMPUTER! Haha!
