It's clear we live in a Pod culture. Podcasts, iPods, pretty much any company that can pop a "pod" or "i" in front of their latest design in an effort to cash in on the "Pod crazy." Apparently the crazy has spread to vacation accommodations as well. BMan e-mailed me to tell me about a Pod Hotel in New York, which touts a stylish, geeky-hip pod experience for travelers. Its tagline is "There’s a Pod for every person, and an endless range of possibilities." From what I can tell it's just like a regular hotel, only with a bunch of iPod hook ups and better TVs than the usual three-star hotel fare.

Apparently, you can set your music and your mood with iPod docking stations and dimmer control lighting system, plug into the Internet with free WiFi access, and catch your favorite shows on LCD TVs. Each "Pod" (or room) is climate controlled and equipped with efficient, stylish furniture. While it sounds like most people's homes, I am intrigued that geek is so chic and the decorator was willing to wager his or her reputation on the clout of all things Pod. The hotel is located in the heart of Manhattan’s Midtown East neighborhood. If you're traveling in a group you can rent out a "Townhouse studio," which sleeps up to five people and has a 25” LCD TV, iPod docking station, dimmer control light system and of course free WiFi. If we're to believe the photos on their site, the place looks like it's tons of fun. So what do you think, coming to a city near you?

I work for Hyatt, and every room in every Hyatt hotel has an iHome for people to plug their ipods in. Just like when wireless became a big thing in hotels, people pitch ipods, and since everyone and their mother has an ipod, who wouldnt love to wake up to their own music?
1My cousin would love a 'Pod' Hotel. Especially in NYC
2this hurts! my ipod just broke
