Teach Your Kids How To Code With C-Jump

'Cause every eleven year old needs to learn the fundamentals of computer programming, there's now a board game called C-Jump that will teach them the basics of C, C++ and Java in a "cool way." With two to four players, kids will have the chance to familiarize themselves with programming languages by skiing and snowboarding all the way to the finish line.
Here's how the C-Jump creators break it down: "The child calculates number of steps in the move, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication of small numbers. The game helps to develop understanding of a complete computer program, formed by logical sequences of commands." Forget reading, writing and arithmetics, because for only $25 little Bobby can fast-track his way to a Computer Science degree!

LOFL! That's just too funny! I'm soon finishing my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and I'd definitely buy that for my kids if I had kids Laughing out loud Oh and I'm SO sure that my kids would enjoy playing that Smiling

Are those 'goto' statements in there? I guess we all start with spaghetti code but... clearly you would not want your kid playing this without parental guidance. Eye-wink

I think geek children would probably appreciate a programmable calculator more.

Seriously?! I would need one of these for my kid.

Psh. I want it for myself. I can see it now:
Kid: Mom, Dad, let's play C-Jump!
    Me, Dad: Seriously? Score!
Kid: *gets box and sets it up*
Me, Dad: *decide we want to play without kid so we can make creepy coding jokes, send kid to room*
Me: *decide I want to make the most absurd program ever, sends Dad to room*

I'm honestly not sure a child would be interested in playing that... O.o

And, no, I don't think I would get that for my kid(s)... it looks educational enough but not imaginative. Sure, education is important but not at the cost of their childhood.

this sounds pretty cool. I'm not so sure it would be a great gift for a kid that's into sports or w/e, but maybe for the mature, more tech savvy older kids.

wow, in the bay area this will kill. kind of odd. i think it's odd, why would you want your child to learn how to write code before they could write a research paper? geeky.
