Access Gmail When It's Blocked at Work or School
Totally frustrated because your workplace or school has put a permanent ban on Gmail? Here are some helpful hints that are worth a try.
- Use different web address combos like http://mail.google.com, https://mail.google.com, http://www.gmail.com, https://www.gmail.com, http://gmail.com, https://gmail.com, or http://googlemail.com as your office might block specific URLs.
- Configure your mail program to access Gmail through POP
so that your mail program at work or school can connect to Gmail. For instructions on the Gmail site, click configure email client list.
- Access Gmail through Google Desktop. By downloading the desktop, it will bypass direct links to Gmail although this method may be banned from the office as well.

Wow, that first tip gave me a serious flashback! We used to have to do that all the time in middle/high school. They would block ridiculous sites; I can't even remember what. I know it started with Napster and stuff like that... OH, it was AIM! That's right. We had to do internet searches for various links to get to the AOL site.
Yeah, I don't blame them for blocking that.
