OK, I'll admit it: I just rid my cell phone's address book of a series of people I hadn't spoken to or seen in years. I'm not sure why it took me so long, save for the fact that every time I get a new phone I have the salesperson transfer my SIM card into my new device.
This month's Shape says if you do anything this month, you should clear out your cell phone, which got me thinking about how cluttered and outdated most of our address books are.

Yep.
that's a cute notebook in the picture!
Every once in awhile I'll clean it out. Not often, but eventually.
No, just sort of let it get all cluttered up, oh well
Every so often I clear out people...
I love purging people from my phone. Every 6 months I go through and delete out all the people I haven't talked to over the past 6 months.
My Iphone now has 757 phone #'s init including every restaurant in town, club, theater, repair shop, & all my friends. I can't imagine what it would take to get rid of these numbers. It would be like going through my closet and getting rid of some of 300 pairs of shoes I dont' wear. If you have a shoe problem www.shoepaprazzi.com is for you.
What a juvenile picture, Geek. I hope that's a stock photo (although I'm sure it's not because it's such low-quality). I never delete contacts--you never know when you might need them! I don't tend to add people I don't think I'll talk to, though.
I do my cleaning every other month.
My mobile devices' and desktop address books all run from the same database: facebook. I use a program that pulls all of my facebook friends information to my address book on my mac, which I eventually sync to my phone and my ipod touch. That usually leaves my contact list full of people I rarely talk to on the phone, but you never know when you might need it. And I can keep things up to date fairly easily since I can just add people to facebook.
I am a neat freak I clean everything and organize everything in my life, my cell phone is no exception.
Don't have a cell anymore. When I did, it had less than ten numbers in it, so this wasn't an issue.
As cells come and go, I like keeping most of my numbers on my contact list. But I'll add-and-delete certain numbers I'll only use for a couple of times.
I'm a little OCD about it. Same goes for my DVR, PDA and computer
the gadget gods do it for me. every few years something horrid happens to my phone, completely obliterating my phonebook and forcing me to get a new unit (i don't really bother to switch models either - i like to stick to what works for me until it dies.) i manage to recover most of the contacts of people who actually talk to me by christmas time - when everyone feels obliged to greet everyone else via sms.
I have a couple of people I know I wont call, but they are handy for drunken texting. I keep numbers of people I dont like too. I have one girl stored as "me" so if I meet a random on a night out I give them her number instead of mine, she gets a couple of texts, he thinks he got the number wrong=sorted. Mean I know, but it works.
I just got a new phone in December and I used that as the perfect time to clear it out.
I never delete people from my phone. IDK why, though.
But now I have the numbers of a bunch of random people that I never talk to... :3
but there are a lot of numbers in there that i rarely use, mainly b/c i keep all the vendor contacts in my entourage address book and sync with my phone. the favorite entry is a**hole, the tow truck company at my old residence.
Always, always and def always!
Yes, I keep my phone updated. Please make sure you have an ICE contact or a couple in case of an emergency. I list mine ICE 1, ICE 2, ICE 3, etc. Hope they are never needed but 'just in case'!
yes i do this every time i get a knew phone which is mostly every 6 months
I only clear out when i get a new phone. Other than that i keep the numbers in there cuz i dont answer unfamiliar numbers only saved numbers.
i get rid of my phone's clutter every few months... I'm just too lazy to care some days.
