With a handful of decent search sites out there, I often wonder what criteria people follow when selecting their search engine of choice. GiggleSugar and I were both in agreeance that we like the simplicity of Google's page and prefer it over ad and link-filled sites like Yahoo!, AOL, and MSN. However, I did happen to show her my pimped out iGoogle page, which is jam packed with gadgets and applications — and bright colors, naturally. But for some reason, since they are all features approved and selected by me (minus any ads), I like it just as much as the basic Google search page. What do you think? Is simpler always better or do you like checking out what the main site has to offer?

I like the simplicity of Google as well. I hate all those pictures on a page where all I need to do is search for something or sign into my account.
1OK, really, is a poll necessary?
2Nobody needs all that. iGoogle is great as a casual homepage, but you shouldn't have to search a page just to find where to look for something.
3google ftw? yes.
4Google becuase it is very simple - nothing else on the page to distract you.
5I agree. Google all the way!
6Gotta say Google. Even though it's not flashy, it's aesthetically pleasing, and iGoogle is everything I could ever want
7i usually just enter my search in my address line of my browser..and so it defaults to yahoo but i prefer the look of the google page..
8Apples / Oranges.
http://search.yahoo.com/ is as clean as google.
9I use Google because it has become the standard, which is evident in the poll results. It has the best results, in my opinion.
10I prefer Google. I did a comparison of Google and Yahoo search for my term paper last semester, and the results from Google were far better for the designated search task.
11google has always been my go to site since it's less cluttered. i don't like having to search for the window to type in my request and google streamlines it all.
12google - clean, clear, and under control
13100% google.
and on my iphone too - I am on google, gmail, google calendar... and I have igoogle (which I like b/c I control it) as a homepage.
14I'm a Google fan too. I appreciate it's simplicity because my internet connection can be wonky, and I can tell if it is working quicker with Google.
15Google!
16google.
17Im not sure how or why I started to use it but I do and its cool. Theres nothing really wrong with Yahoo, google is just what I use.
I hate the person who picked MSN. The people that work at MSN use google.
18Yes I use Google on the internets machine!
19I love google they've got it together.
20i like the simplicity of google. if i want to look at news feeds and stuff, i'll just go to cnn.com or something. or my customized google page.
21I also prefer google now because a lot of indexed pages are on google that are not on other search engines like yahoo. I believe yahoo is just being phased out as a web search... anyone remember webcrawler? ... the original webcrawler? lol yeah
22i prefer the clean look, and the other features that google has on their igoogle page.
23I prefer the clean simplicity of Google. I even refuse to use iGoogle because it would clutter up the search page.
24its kind of obvious how google is the winner. thats how their company grew in popularity so fast.
25I haven't used anything but Google in years.
26I like Google.
27google for sure.
28Do people still use anything other than Google? Weird...
29I even use google in place of the word search nowadays - and I quote - "I heard that you needed an application for building social networks? Why don't you Google it?"
30I use MSN the most.
31I am really turned off by search engines with litter all over them - back before Google existed I would seek out Alta Vista and Hotbot just to avoid the clutter. I have a hard time seeing search engines other than yahoo and Google as legitimate in part because of all the clutter.

33Google
34Definitely Google! I like how minimalist it is.
35never a question. google all the way.
36Yahoo!'s my homepage, but I always use Google to look something up. It's not bogged down with any other crap, and that makes the page load even faster.
37I am such a google girl. If I use something else, I don't feel like I'm getting all the possible results.
38Google, and by extension, Blackle.
39I'm a Google girl! I google everything.
