I got around to Netflixing the movie Broken English this weekend, and I was really touched by the story of Nora (the always fabulous Parker Posey), a lovelorn thirtysomething living in New York City. Single and unsatisfied, the first half of the movie courts your sympathies for Nora and the loneliness she's experiencing in many parts of her life.
Frustrated by her lack of men in the beginning, she happens upon a Match.com-like dating site and gets some pretty funny — yet harsh and straightforward news: "Your selection didn't turn up anything." Online dating sometimes makes you feel like there's slim-pickins out there. We feel your pain, Nora.

I loved this movie - the ending was too perfect though. I was yelling at the tv "yeah, right!" Love Parker, though.
1Sounds like a fun movie!
2Loved this movie -- the ending cinched it for me, actually (come on SugarCat, are you really that cynical?) And I was desperately in love with Melvil Poupaud by the end of it.
3LOVED THIS MOVIE. The end was a little anti climactic...but it was kinda nice to not have everything be explained. It is a sweet film. Good story, great music, amazing performances, surprisingly funny given the emotional subject matter. I rented it and watched it 4 times before returning it.
4I want to see this...sometimes when I'm with a crush I feel lost in translation even in my native language!
5jasmint--totally seconding the Melvil Poupaud thing!
6This has been lingering in my queue for a while, I love Parker Posey, and one day plan on getting to it - good to hear someone else enjoyed it!
7Thanks for the recommendation! Sounds like my love life at the moment. Instead of crying over my dry spell, I might as well have a good laugh. Heading over to Netflix now...
8sounds like a really funny movie. that one online dating movie with diane lane..that was a bit lame. everything parker posey does is curiously fresh and quirky. is anyone going to watch her TV debut in The Return of Jezebel James?? it's march 14th at 8pm on fox...
