Buzz reported yesterday that Quarterlife is making its TV debut (it first premiered on MySpaceTV) on NBC. Quarterlife, whose own life started as an ABC pilot but was dropped and then run by its producers online, is a show about a group of struggling young people fronted by a twenty-something female blogger. To promote the new NBC show, a Quarterlife social networking site has launched.

This social network is set up like your FaceBook and MySpace pages, but it's designed to appeal to your twenty-something, misunderstood creative angst. Annoyed yet? I mean, I give it up to the producers trying to find a niche, but do we really need a new social networking site? Do you dislike that FaceBook and MySpace are so general and are you craving new social networking sites that appeal to different aspects of your life?

unless something genuinely new and interesting is represented in a social networking site, there is no way I'm joining anymore.
1Facebook is enough.
2I still prefer good old person to person contact.
3I find they are just a way to "collect" friends. Everyone I am in touch or want to be with has my email/address/phonenumber.
4I'm sick of them mostly because at 28, I grew up right on the cusp of internet stardom. Very few of my friends email at the least, and even fewer use myspace or facebook. ALL of the ones who do anything at all on social networking sites, do it very seldom! It's just not worth it to go fix my page all pretty and upload constant pictures and blogs when my friends log on once a month, lol.
As for this show, I saw her on The View yesterday and she garnered enough interest to hit record, but I thought for a few seconds and canceled the recording. I'm just not that interested.
5I use MySpace and have a Facebook account that I check very seldom. All the other ones are just too much for me. I just don't have the time to keep up with them all. I can barely keep up with my day to day obligations as a mother and full time employee.
6Myspace has been good for finding some old friends and keeping in touch with my friends overall because we're all so damn busy these days! I honestly think we'd never see each other if it weren't for myspace, texts, etc.
7I never had a Myspace or Facebook account or page.
8Definitely, I used to really enjoy the exclusivity of Facebook b/c I'd get skeezy people messaging me on MySpace, but even that's gone on Facebook now.
9I'm sick of ALL social networking sites. No more pirate fight invites, no more "do we match?" quizzes. No more counting of friends. And most of all no more photos taken of oneself by oneself, let's get both arms back in our photos!
10laura220: I LOVE your icon. So cute. Stick figures rule. Mostly because they are the only thing I can draw. But still, they rule.
11I watched this show last night and I was really disappointed, the concept is cool but the show and the site miss the mark.
I think that Quarterlife would have been embraced better a few years ago when it was initially pitched to ABC as a pilot a few years ago---before we were inundated with social networks.
I probably have profiles on over 25 social networking sites, and I am getting sick of it. No Quarterlife for me.
12I'm on neither MySpace nor Facebook, but I love Ravelry. However, that's largely for all the stuff it does for me beyond the "social network" aspects. I'm on a few social-y sites (but largely inactive on a couple of them), but I need to be getting something from it that is of value to me, and just being "social" doesn't cut it.
13I think the internet needs something entirely NEW. Something that's not a mash up of social networking and some other application. There must be other things we can do online that will make our lives easier - other than keeping up with all these social networks! The Next Big Idea - that's what we need.
14not tired yet, but it fairly time consuming to keep everything up to date.
15the sugar sites are my new addiction!
16if one of these new sites could merely manage them all, who has time to scour them all throughout the work day?
17I'm not really sick of them. I just won't use them. Myspace and Facebook are enough for me, you know? I don't mind that more are coming out though. I'm rather indifferent.
18That will do Pig. That will do.
